Will Ray Lewis be released if he doesn't retire?

Just wonder what you think. Some speculate he'll retire, but what if he wants to come back for one more year? I don't see why the Ravens would want to pay him 5.4 million next season.

Interesting. I was under the assumption he could come back if he felt like it, but admittedly I haven't watched many Ravens games this year. Has he tailed off a lot?

They'll keep paying him as long as he wants to keep playing, IMO.

Yes, but at a high level?

Not much of a high level I bet. A guy like reed can keep playing cuz his position isn't as physically demanding. But I think he can be like spikes and keep playing. His will will be there forever. Honestly think his physicality can keep him going but injuries always hamper.

From what I heard, Reed is as good as retired the day the Ravens' offseason starts. He almost retired last year.

What Ray brings as much as anything is leadership. The guy is like having a coach on the field, he gets his team fired up and makes sure they are doing what they need to do. You can't just get rid of a guy like that. GOAT.

You never know with the NFL, but, I imagine they'd keep him around if he wanted to stay.

As usual i agree with you. He is also still able to perform at a high level which makes him even more valuable. Until he proves that he can't, then they have to keep him.

The league will be strange for a little while whenever he does retire. Same when Manning, Brees, and Brady retire.
