They don't, not even close. A few missed calls on balls and strikes or the occasional incorrect call on a stolen base (usually overturned) don't change who wins. But in football a timely DPI or roughing the passer can swing the game and that happens all the time.

Not to mention, complaining about the refs happens in LITERALLY EVERY THREAD for football games. It's soooooo boring.
