agree with you on Dallas.

ratboy was a leading scorer - does Jagr replace that?
I didn't see many Philly games, but playing with Giroux had to help immensely.

Roy and Whitney are nice adds, but they are secondary players.
I don't see them driving the offense the way shithead did.

Supposedly (I think I read it somewhere anyway, lol) Roy is out until mid-November with an injury (shoulder I think). Jagr is one year older on a less talented team. Ratboy (as bitch-ass as he was) had good chemistry with Morrow. Whitney is a great addition though. They're not going to be as tough to play against though. Whitney, Jagr and Roy are all level-headed wouldn't be considered tenacious or in-your-face type players.

*This is pure speculation* - but I think something is wrong with Roy physically. I can't see why the Sabres would just trade a 1.5 (kind of a tweener) Line Center for a 3rd Line Center and a 6th/7th defenseman if everything was good to go with Roy. He had an off year and he's had some injuries in the past.....maybe something ain't right?

I think Minny improved a ton, but I think they'll still be battling from 6th - 8th seed in the WC. The only problems I can see for them is that Mikku Koivu is so injury prone as is Pierre Marc Bouchard. I think those would be the best 2 fits to play with Parise (or possibly Seto could play well with him). Heatley doesn't have the speed I don't think to play with Parise. Their defense after Suter and Gilbert has a pretty steep drop off (even though they do have some young talent back there). Goaltending should be good to go.

If you could take Ott and Ribeiro with proven chemistry OR injured Roy, Jagr, and Whitney with unproven chemistry, I'd take the former even now. And it's no doubt which side of those groups is better in the future since you're just waiting for those 40-year olds to hit the wall.

These are the type of moves you expect from a team that feels it's on the cusp of a title and takes a risk to try to get there. Last I checked, Dallas is not in that position. So it doesn't really make any sense to me what they are doing this offseason.

(But I like it!!!)

The moves Dallas has made this offseason are a bit confusing. I understand why they traded Ribeiro. I just don't think they got enough for him. Ribeiro is as slick as they come. I really have no idea what the Stars are trying to do. Niewy has made some strange trades, that I really feel haven't helped his team. I knew when the Neal trade was made Dallas would regret it. They're going to regret that trade until the day Neal retires.

Van, Det, SJ, Chi, StL, LA will still be good teams.

I suppose I should have mentioned my reasoning, and that it was from the perspective of those who claim Dallas is one of the most improved teams in the West.

Dallas got significantly worse. If every other team in the West improved less than Dallas, i.e. got more more than Dallas, on some sliding scale, not many good teams would be left.

you could have just said "Fuck Dallas" :thumb:

however, I see your point. Sometimes people (media) confuse 'active' for 'improving'.
A lot has to go right with their new additions for them to be more than a bubble team again.
