Why the fuck is Nick Lidstrom still so good?

Seriously, I'm beginning to think the dude is growing clones to sacrifice and replace his organs. Dude is frontrunner for the Norris once again. While I love my boy Letang and give props to Keith and Byfuckhowdoispellit, if Nicky continues to play as awesome as he is on one of the best teams in the league, he is hands down the winner and deserves conversation in the Hart discussion.

Because he is (similar to being) the Gretzky of defense.....he's not overly physically gifted (although both have a lot of physical talent), but they see the ice and the game many steps ahead than their contemporaries. They both were/are very cerebral players.

If he had played in a different era (or the same era as Gretz), he would be the 2nd best defenseman ever (after Orr) in my humble opinion. Yes, even better than Bourque.

Good point about Nicky being cerebral (rep). He's also physical in a way that's smart, so he's not throwing his body around to get the big hit. When he hits, he's doing it to make smart plays.

Bingo. Also, I don't think I've ever seen anyone more accurate on the one timer from the blue line, or better at teeing it up while on the move.

He just flat out does the right thing, all the time.
