The dynamic slot receiver was asked about matching up with Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman. Welker said he has no problem going up against anyone.
"Yeah, anytime, man," Welker said. "I want anybody one-on-one in the slot. Anytime."

This was taken from Wes Welker on facing Sherman: I'll take anyone 1-on-1 - NFL.com

Welker asked about Sherman,,,,,,

The title of the article on the page:

  1. Coach: Sherman has 'extreme recall' | Welker: I'll take him 1-on-1

Never actually said that......media trying to drum up controversy. Im sure tomorrow sherman will get a question "Did you see Welker say he'd take you 1-on-1?" and try to bait a response.....

The media doing what they do best... Stirring shit up...

Take the whole "Roethlisberger Wants Out of Pittsburgh" issue... I watch every press conferece, interview, post game, you name it... And I never once heard Ben say anything about wanting out of Pittsburgh. I did however see that the writer rearranged some of Ben's comments so that it suited his story... Go figure! But Ben publicly denied any and all comments made by the schmuck that started it all.

Quite ridiculous that they feel the need to add all this bullshit of controversies and "hype" to everything NFL when it already has enough of each on it's own.

It was only fairly recently that a 24 hour news cycle for REAL news was created- with CNN less than 30 years ago. Now, with CNN dropping out of 24 hour news, there is only one successful 24 hour REAL news channel in Fox News. Yet, for whatever reason, we have like 5 24-hour SPORTS news channels. To me, daytime sports news is such a waste of time, they have to literally make up stories to cover.

The media does what it can to get more people to watch the game. It has nothing to do with the game itself...just the numbers of people watching it..

I'm not sure what you're getting at but Welker said exactly that.

so? is that supposed to translate to Richard Sherman sucks?

Who said anything about Richard Sherman sucking ? OP said the media was lying about a Welker quote. They weren't. Welker said it. They quoted him accurately. That's all. :noidea:

Which is why the news, even in the "real world" is bullshit. It's about ratings, not about the relevant news.

I don't even though what this means. ^^ What is your point ? Sure the media tries to stir up controversy. Controversy sells. The OP claimed the media claimed that Welker said something that he had not said. They didn't. They didn't make anything up. He said exactly what he was reported to have said. I was simply pointing that out.

Kaep is a dunce. What a stupid comeback. "He's Scared", mmmmm don't think so.
"I'll take that one-one Crabtree versus Sherman 100 out of 100 times" Yeah, that's why you only tried 2X.
How about Dunce Kaep mocking Newton, then ragging on Sherman for something very SIMILAR.

IMO, Kaep is very immature, may be a great player someday, but today he is immature and a pretty good QB.

You surprised a media head would classify that as unloading? :laugh3:

Must be a slow news day at the SB if they are resorting to blowing up words from a team that was sent packing a week and a half ago. Tells me neither team is making the kinds of comments they can distort into drama so they are making their own.

Still, kind of funny.

The media are the best spin doctors alive today

They hear what they want and what thinks is gonna sell papers.

Not the stuff like "He's a great player"

Stuff like "I can own his ass"

I never trust them

proves my point.

There will be two very special guests at this Sunday's Super Bowl game in New Jersey's MetLife Stadium thanks to one of the game's biggest stars.

Seattle Seahawks' fullback Derrick Coleman became a viral star after a Duracell commercial showed his unlikely path from legally deaf child to the first legally deaf offensive player in the National Football League.

Which Super Bowl Team Are You? Take the Quiz!

After Coleman's team defeated the San Francisco 49ers Jan. 20 to make it to the Super Bowl, where they will face the Denver Broncos, the NFL star received an adoring letter from a 9-year-old girl who, like her twin sister, is also hearing impaired.

The letter was tweeted to Coleman by their father, Jake Kovalcik.

"I know how you feel," one of the twins, Riley Kovalcik, wrote to Coleman, 23. "I also have hearing aids. Just try your best. I have faif [sic] in you."

At that time, Riley and her twin sister, Erin, were just two of the millions of people who had seen Coleman's Duracell ad on TV and online.

"The first time I saw it, we were actually tearing a little bit," Riley, of New Jersey, told " Good Morning America." "We were so happy that there was actually somebody that was good and could understand everything about hearing aids and that could help you."

"And he actually, he speaks for saying that anything can be done, even with a disability," she said.

For Riley and Erin, getting to meet their hero - who wrote a letter back to Riley, calling her "a friend who I have so much in common with" - was only a dream.

"I would probably just run past the security guards, under their legs, right past the security guards…[and] jump on top of him," Riley said, when asked how she would react if her dream came true.

How to Make a Super Bowl Snackadium

Luckily for Coleman, in reality, Riley was too starstruck to run after Coleman when he appeared just moments later, in a surprise meeting captured by "GMA" cameras.

"Oh my gosh, are you really?," said a stunned Erin.

Coleman taking time from his pre-Super Bowl schedule to meet with the twins was only the first surprise he brought with him.

"On behalf of Duracell, we want to invite you guys to the Super Bowl," he told Riley and Erin. "You and your little brother, your dad, your mom…come watch us play."

"Really?" and "Seriously?" were at first the only words the twins could utter, before eventually giving their hero a hug and a "thank you."
