Devils were amazing last year in shootouts. This year 0-3, and I have little confidence right now. Always seems to be Moose in net for these this year. Parise was automatic in the shootout so I will miss that about him.

Miller came in cold, so I can;t fully blame him for the shootout, Enroth did great in the game, just came down to us not scoring enough

Sekera and Enroth both hurt on the same play. How often does that happen? Both players did not return.

And the Devils win!!!!!!!!!! WHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

lol @ the Sabres being up 2-0 late in the 3rd just to choke in the last 7 minutes of the 3rd period, and then get stuffed in the SO.

If you count SO goals, Miller almost gave up 3 goals again in a short period. lol

This is why bad teams are bad teams. The Sabres are a BAD team.

Now keep losing Sabres, and draft a player that will actually make a difference.

Has it sunk in yet for most fans that the Season is over for the Sabres?

Not only are the Sabres not helped by the fact that no games are played against the West, but most of the teams in the East have played fewer games than the Sabres.

Sabres will need to win at least 19 of their last 23 games just to make it to the PO's. Anyone honestly see that happening? The best thing this team can do is lose.

Sorry, I'm still a fan, but I'm looking at the bigger picture. Sabres accomplish nothing if they make it 10th place.

The problem is not where they draft it's what players they draft and acquire. Maybe at the end of the season if they take a long look at the GM and the scouting department they can make the rest of the changes to turn this franchise into a winner. There is no difference finishing 5th, 9th or 30th if you make bad choices on draft day and the trade dead line. Unfortunately this has been the history of this organization.

If high draft picks = winning, Edmonton and the Islanders would be power houses. Here's how they have finished in the overall standings since the 2000 season til last year compared to Det and NJ.

Det, 2,1, 3, 1, 1, 2, 1, 3, 7, 6, 8

N.J. 10, 4, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 6, 23, 9

Edm 12, 15, 14, 17, 14, 25, 19, 21, 30, 27, 29

NYI 30, 8, 16, 15, 24, 17, 26, 30, 26, 30, 27

Obviously draft position doesn't equal winning and the fact that a Gretzky, Mario and Crosby are very rare and few even very good players make an impact by them self.

I understand your frustration but don't agree with your point. I just can not get myself to hope my fav team finishes low to get a higher draft pick that will probably not help especially if they make the wrong choice. Beside having played sports I would never think of tanking because I'm a competitor and wouldn't want a player on my team that felt that way. I understand fans may look at it differently.

Winning is an organizational issue from top to bottom and the scouting dept is very often overlooked as being super important. I'm hoping the Sabres just didn't want to completely blow things up at one time when they let Ruff go but at the end of the season I hope they finish the job and they just may do that.

Hopefully we can agree to disagree.

I see your point for sure Boss, but my frustration (and I'm guessing IPW's also) is when they do like last season and go on a huge tear down the stretch which drops them 7 or 8 spots in the draft but still miss the POs.

I don't ever cheer for them to lose, but I think at some point a bad team has to acknowledge that it's time to rebuild and accept that they are going to suck for a couple years.

But my main point is that is doesn't matter if they are going to do a crappy job of drafting and getting other players (via trade UFA etc.) that mesh together. There are teams that "on paper" may not be as good as the Sabres but are consistently ahead of them in the standings. My previous post showing how the teams finished should illustrate this, look at the extremes where they consistently finish. If you do a bad job of drafting it doesn't make any difference if you finish 5th or 15th, hell in some cases the Sabres would pick a guy 9th that successful teams would pass at 25th. IDK, maybe 'm not making my point. IDK, like I said we can agree to disagree.

I wish this wasn't a GNT and others could see it to hear comments from other teams fans and get their perspective.

Edit: The part I put in bold from your comment I agree with 100% and that's my point. Until they change something in the organization to address what I've mention it doesn't matter where they finish. Well we agree on that. LOL

No, I get your point. There are surely teams that are better managed than others out there as your Detroit/NJ example proves (though with NJ, I think a lot of it goes back to one single draft pick).

I guess where we can agree to disagree is whether the Sabres have really done that poor of a job of drafting. For the most part I think the Sabres have drafted pretty well in the last few years. There have been some misses, obviously, but I don't think Darcy is a terrible drafter.

Where I think they fuck it up is in player development and in signing the missing pieces via free agency.

As I mentioned in my first post. It's a combination of factors and it will not change until something is changed at the top be it personnel, philosophy or whatever but there needs to be a change.

Absolutely. It's no secret that I've been advocating terminating Regier for a few years now.

Until he's gone, nothing improves, IMO.

Absolutely. I hope I didn't come across as a dick or over bearing but I bleed Blue and Gold, Love the Sabres and Bills and it fucking kills me to see them lose year after year it really does.

With ANY luck one of the two teams will some day get it together and win it all. The shock would probably kill me but you know what? It would be worth it as long as I had an hour or two to enjoy it.
