Good news to me . Maybe now the lawyers are involved with the actual contract. Everyone now waiting for Von to sign to make it official. Tuesday is 58 days till the first game

I'm thinking it is good news too. Usually though if we are getting down to just the little nitty gritty parts of the contract somebody is posting something and saying the deal is imminent. Right now just nothing but silence. Hopefully though by the end of the day we know where things are going. Unfortunately I do think that if something isn't done by Tuesday or that we at least hear the two sides are really really close we will start hearing about trade rumors going pretty crazy. At least get something while the value is high for Von.

That would surprise me. I see Manny getting big money next year. Unfortunately not from Denver.

I agree with this. I really hope we figure out a way to keep him but I just can't see us being ok putting possibly $26 million a year just towards 2 WR's on the team. Especially when you consider the Broncos are working hard to become a more smash mouth team with the run game it just takes down the value of a WR a bit. Now I think Sanders is a valuable piece of this team and a great locker room/leader so maybe we can find some middle ground but we will see.

My one problem with Miller he want all his money this year I think If I was Elway I would sign sanders and tell miller tag play or sit out . He IMO has now gotten a little too much about him self we have offered enough at this point .

He wil play 3 years and then hold out AI would stop with his BS . We are fine with what we got right now . I would trade him at this point.

$114 can be 3 player combined that will equal Miller and not have a me mentality

Anyone care to datamine that if Von sits out and Denver keeps the FT as is, the $14MM still counts against the cap for 2016. I had heard that is the case.

That is not true. They would treat it like a suspension since the player is refusing to play so the Broncos would actually get all that money back but it would be for next year not this year. He counts against the cap but with every game the Broncos would get a little bit of the $14 million back. It would be about $875,000 a game that the Broncos would get back.

Miller is a FA. His 5 year contract is up. He is not part of the Broncos. The Broncos are the only team that can make him an offer this year but Miller does not have to accept that offer which is what he is doing right now.
What I saw was Denver is on the hook until week 10 unless they withdraw the tag . 10/16 of $14MM will have to be charged to the cap.

When a player holds out the team is not responsible for paying the player for the games missed. So from what I understand if Miller sits out the entire year they do not have to have the $14 million count against the Cap.

Carl is correct. You don't have to pay a player that isn't under contract.

You saw in the past where players held out under contract such as Bobby Humphrey, which was why Denver was able to fine him for not showing up.

Anyone else still not nervous?

This is very common before a tagged player reaches a deal, it goes down to the last day. Each team refusing to give an inch and then meeting at the end. DT, Dez last year... It is a pretty common theme, but with no NFL news at this time of the year the media makes it into a bigger deal then it will end up being.

I found this but then again it is the internet but consistent with what I have heard before.

For transition and franchise players, an offer will be included in team salary when it is made.

These offers for UFA, transition players, and franchise players will remain included in team salary until the player is signed, the offer is withdrawn, the team gives up their rights to the player, or until the Tuesday following the tenth week of the regular season if the player is unsigned. All offer sheets will be included in team salary when the offer is made until the player is signed to a contract with any NFL Team or the offer sheet is withdrawn.

If Von did not play , don't you think he'd be in super high demand for TV?
With the NFLPA behind him, I think he could easily get $5-7MM or half the $14MM.

Chris Harris just said on NFL Network he expects that the deal will get done Thursday Night or Friday Morning. So this doesn't look like a deal that will wait to the last possible second and looks like a deal is expected to get done.

It is classic negotiating leverage - this deal was always going to go down to the last minute - so both sides can sell to their client - they were as tough as they could be.

The next classic step in the negotiating process - happens about now - as each side has to decide what hill is worth it enough to die on. All attorneys and negotiating reps at this point - are trying to lay into their client's mind their bottom line terms.

We know one thing - for both sides - it will have to be the biggest deal for a defensive player in history - in both guaranteed money and full contract totals. The Broncos know where that point is and don't want to pay much more than enough to brag about the contract - they don't mind setting the record for pay, but they don't want to play a stupid jump about the magic number.

Where you from man? This stuff is brilliant - almost Springstein like.
