In my high school playing years we played what was the Class B, the second largest class in the state. BUT, we traveled to and hosted many small towns from Nebraska on Fridays. Being who we were, we had just about the only integrated football team at our level. We were pretty good, so it drew a lot of venom from fans and coaches alike.
I can recall several games at halftime where coach would just have us sit quietly and listen to the opposing team coaches scream about how they were "letting them monkeys/ N******s/ spear chuckers" run all over them. Once we heard a coach scream (about our QB) "I want you to catch that fucking n*****r and break his fucking legs!"
Most of us found it amusing. That latter example may have been responsible for our QB exploding for 6 rushing TD's in the second half.
Good times..... good times.
