And Jake Locker doesn't count in this discussion; he got hurt.

Ryan Mallett?
Derek Anderson?
Kaep?
Flynn?
Moore?
Henne?

Good question. It's between Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallett, Matt Flynn, and Kyle Orton for me. I'm really not even sure who the back up is in NE right now, but i like both Hoyer and Mallett.

Alex Smith. ;) (You know I don't believe this, but I know plenty do - but then again, they wouldn't call them their favorite either.)

I think I'd have to go with Mallett. I would say Moore, but I think Mallett has more potential to be a starter than Moore does.

I wonder what Harbaugh could do with the guy. His biggest problem is he's a statue, but the Niners have the best OL & running game in the NFL.

I've never been a big Kaep fan. He's fast running, but he's slow in his play. His release is slow, and his decision making is slow.

This has always been my problem with Kaep. From what little we have seen in him this past year, it doesn't look like he is processing the information fast enough. We know he can run and throw, but it's the decision making and release that he needs to improve.

Backup as in the 2nd guy (not 3rd) in line? Flynn, Cousins and Mallett. Haven't seen enough of Moore lately, but he'd be up there.

I guess I meant non-starter. If there's another non-starter you like, do tell.

Does he have to be in the league? If he does, Hoyer doesn't count. You might as well say Gio Carmazzi or Andre Woodson .

Mine would be Mallett. That shouldn't come as a surprise to most on here.

That being said, I didn't give it much thought.

Nope, not when it's about QBs and not when it's on a Niner message board. It may surprise you but I talk about other things to my friends and family outside of the Niners and outside of Alex Smith. I'll talk more about Kaep when he's the starting QB. I've admitted several times that I have a QB and receiver focus point, as in I don't know the other positions that well. And even then, I admit I'm biased. It's time to move on as far as you or others pointing out my interests in football and this team.
