Looking at my watch list, I noticed you got to be carefull of what your getting. Some...most are not retail versions, but OEM versions, that say you can upgrade to 10.
I'm debating...I have Windows 7 still and never wanted Windows 8. I'd like to try it but am worried about bugs and such. Anyone?
Windows 10 will have no service packs, just rolling updates. The build soon to be released won't be the same as what is on PCs come Christmas...Having lived in Microsoft's back yard since 1992, and continuously using every version of Windows since 3.1, I got this to say:
Never, ever adopt the first version of a Microsoft OS.
Wait for service pack 1 at minimum.
It should allow each PC to update then as long as Microsoft verifies the license key for each computer.Well if it's only good for 1 computer then I'll be holding on to windows 7, because it's a family pack good for 3 computers.
Maybe, but I only see the upgrade icon on my desktop, not on my laptop, so.....I'm not sure of that. Haven't found any info that addresses this.It should allow each PC to update then as long as Microsoft verifies the license key for each computer.
Have you tried skipping the updates to 8 and just putting 8.1 on? (I don't know if that's possible but I see no restrictions in Microsoft's instructions to update to 8.1)Started from scratch with another fresh install of windows 8. Updating this is taking forever. Last one had 112 updates, it cancelled 89 of them and said try again.
When I go to windows store and click on upgrade to windows 8.1 I get a message that says I need to update 8 first.Have you tried skipping the updates to 8 and just putting 8.1 on? (I don't know if that's possible but I see no restrictions in Microsoft's instructions to update to 8.1)

Or he could always just do a manual check for updates and it might appear...That icon on your desktop only comes with an update check and not having that on could be why it isn't showing.
Well yeah, that's what I meant. If you aren't on auto update then do a manual and see if it pops up.Or he could always just do a manual check for updates and it might appear...
Hell don't feel bad. Lately it seems like Ubuntu and its derivatives are updating weekly...that's what Windows 10 will probably be like.Updated but no icon, however I see 12 more updates are available...now.
