Well, I wish I had a pic to throw up of a dead elk, but I don't. I didn't get out as much as I was planning but still had chances. The wife went into labor on opening day and we had our second child at 5:30 pm that day. I managed to get out 3 full days to chase them, and missed a 61 yard shot on a spike. Standing broadside on the rim of a canyon, I hit barbed wire that deflected my arrow to god knows where , that one hurt.
Damn that sucks ! But congrats on the baby. I hope everyone is doing well.

It was a pretty big surprise as he came a month early. All is well for both though. We stayed in the hospital one extra day but he passed all his screens and tests. They'll be another elk season, I'm just glad I made it off the mountain in time to take them to the hospital. 20 years ago I would have just been hunting all day and came home to a new baby lol.

Got a couple of doe's in the freezer so far. Had a buddy come up and bow hunt and he shot a 148 inch eight point. Deer was a toad, great big body.
Had a biologist come out for the last month and do a habitat study for the Quail. He thinks in some areas we have up to twenty Quail per 150 acres and with some tweaking it could be better. He might have to quit his day job and come work for me as a Quail wrangler.

Give him a bag and take him snipe hunting!

That's great that you have birds. My property's been full of woodcock this year and Whip's been pointing and chasing them all summer.

Our Pheasant does not open until the first week of December. We have fair bird numbers but I bought 500 and will put them out in two weeks. Going to have a big bunch come for a hunt.

Do you have flight pens set up or does someone else raise them and then release a week before the hunt or something? How late does your season go?

I bought them fro a guy back in August and he was going to raise them and fight condition them and bring them up and release them. He said to put them out several weeks before we hunt them. It last until the first weekend of January I believe.

I have a young guy that takes care predators. We have some big playa lake bottoms that are full of Cotia weed and all our corners had Milo that we left the stalks for them to hide in.
