Who Is on the NHL Hot Seat? «

Some hot seat talk.

Pretty harsh prediction for Richards; not make it to New Year's.

And up until the press conference after the Detroit loss, I supported him unconditionally. But now, I feel like he made an emotional mistake and it may have hurt deeply.

He was asked about the dumb penalties Johansen, Hartnell and Foligno took, and that Joey and Hartsy were benched for the third. And he focused on the Foligno one. He said "At least Nick didn't put the team down a man". He said it 2 or 3 times. "At least he didn't leave us shorthanded."

I get it. I would have sat Johansen and Hartnell too. They were dumb, over-reactionary penalties than ended momentum. I would have sat them, and then tore them new assholes in the locker room after the game. But they are two guys who have been there every game, have been asked to play in all kinds of situations with different linemates every game and they have done so. They have done it well and are currently #1 and #3 in team scoring. They deserve a little more than being called out in a press conference.

During the locker room interview Johansen said, of the penalty, that it was dumb and he deserved to get sat down for it. He said he apologized to the team and is going to move on. 20 minutes later, the coach is calling him out. And not directly, in a backhanded way.

That's how a coach loses a room.

I thought Johansen lost the room by holding out?

I dunno. Starting to think McLellan is a goner if San Jose doesn't win tonight or Saturday, and I think they're losing both.

i can also see the sOil-errs and the Blew Junkits doing a Tort V. Has there ever been a 'real' Coach trade? Is it even 'legal'? And, why aren't the coaches' and gms' and even trainers' salaries included in the so-called salary cap? Shouldn't all operating expenses be the real issue? Maybe ticket giveaways and subsidies should be included too. Panthers would be Quebec No-dicks all the sooner, eh.
