Martin? Did you watch football last year?

I'm on Ball too, because look at EVERY RB Peyton has ever played with. You will see highly productive activity. By the end of last year, they were already making the move from Moreno to Ball. Don't give me the BS about Ball getting beat out last year, it takes a lot to learn a Peyton offense.

Martin is not my 5th ranked, but I put him in there just as a point. Martin at least "has" done it before. Also, I think he has a bounce back year. Ball hasn't done shit yet.

He averaged exactly 1 reception per game. He had a total of 4 tds - but 3 fumbles. There is nothing out there to suggest he is an elite back. I'm not saying he can't be. I'm just saying drafting him high is a complete shot in the dark.

Charles
McCoy
McCoy
AP
even D. Martin

These guys are can't miss prospects. Ball is a big "can" miss. You can't miss with a top 5 pick.

Love how everyone fixated on those three fumbles, like three is a huge amount to begin with, yet they consistently, conveniently, forget that all 3 were in the first four games as he was just getting his feet wet. They also always forget that he handled the ball 800+times in college before losing a fumble.

And evidence of what he can be? How about damned near 5 yards per carry? The only way Ball is a "miss"is if he gets hurt, same thing for anyone else that can be considered a "top" guy.

I going to go against the grain here and predict that Ball isn't going to met expections here.

First, I meant to say Forte (instead of the 2nd McCoy).

Next, I think Ball is a miss - For a Top 5/6 prospect. I'm not saying he won't have a decent or even good year. But imo there is no way he has a top 5 year (for RB's). I honestly think he will be pushing it to have a top 10 RB year.

To draft him in the top 5 is a big mistake, imo. I'm willing to be called out on this down the road if wrong. Just my opinion.

D. Thomas; J. Thomas; Welker; Sanders - are all options before him, imo. Ball is a first year starter, with fumbling and blocking concerns, who at best is the 4th option on his team.

in bold: Much respect for that comment. . Many aren't willing to say that. Obviously those of us taking him top 5 are willing to eat major crow as well. :suds:

In italics: Most of us said the same thing about both Thomas and Moreno/Ball last year. (Minus the fumbling and blocking concerns which frankly are baseless and not backed by any facts whatsoever) Thomas was obviously excellent, and Moreno was top 5 in RB's.. so, the evidence at hand suggests that is entirely possible, albeit easy to dismiss as unlikely to some.

Definitely willing to eat crow when due. And hey, what are these boards for other than opinions? Nobody is writing scriptures here (unless you count Wil and Joe and their numbers) ;) ...it's sll good.

Just don't say "no way" so easily when Lacy was "no way" last year, ...now look? This offense is a well oiled machine, and Ball is the tires snd there's lots of room for wear and tear.

And finally, what running backs do you take ahead of Ball?

Never say never. This is where I don't agree with you. I expect him to be a top 10 RB and think he can be top 5. My point is its just not worth the risk to take him in the top 5. He is in a good spot and Every year a new guy jumps near the top of the points leaders, but picking who it is isn't always easy. I wouldn't be shocked if I end up with Moreno on one or more of my teams, but it absolutely won't be with a top 5 pick and most likely not even a first round pick.

It's more about the Broncos offense than it is Ball. Ball's ability is just icing on the cake. Not sure what "sure fire" RB's there are out there any better...or in any better situation.

Better situation? Only Shady with Chip Kelly's runafest is even in that discussion.. hence why he's the only back I'd take above Ball

So you are taking Ball over Charles and Forte?

McCoy, Forte, Charles, Lacy and AP(he has created his own opportunity for years) all have equally high end situations IMO. None will lose carries to lesser reserves, all have been feature backs before. I have Ball in two keeper leagues, don't consider him my #1 in either though.

So you are taking Ball over Charles and Forte?

In leagues where I know he won't make it back to me in the second, yes, and have already done so. In others, with average Joes (not our average Joe) I'd be tempted to take one of the "big bames" and end up with both. But, no , I'd most likely take Ball

The love for ball from many of the posters here is understandable but i think it is just too much. I just don't see Denver having an offensive season like they did last year, and Moreno needed an epic offense to be on the top 5. Yes ball is more talented that Moreno, but talent does not always equate on the field. Ball is just not SAFE as a top 5 RB. And if you draft him as one then you lose the value no matter what. I would certainly not draft him in the first half of the first round. And at that point I generally like going WR.

so I would draft graham, Calvin and demaryious over ball.

Oops. Change that to Ball...although I'm certainly not taking Moreno in the first round

That's what I did...I got McCoy and then Ball. If he lives up to expectations, I am in for a hell of a year. It would be a lot of fun to have my RB2 be better than my opponent's RB1

I have Ball in two keeper leagues and I love his potential. But I have to be honest, I think the expectations for him are a bit too high around here as well. I hope you guys are right though.

I can't wait for the season. Man I hate when people class Lacy with the top four but laugh at Ball. All because of LAST YEAR. I would accept Lynch's name as one who has done it repeatedly...but not Lacy!!! Gimme a break! You think Ball can't do that?? LOL .... and tack on Ball's more catches that he WILL have.

I can't wait for the season.

I certainly don't put Lacy in the top 4 either, but are you really unable to see why most have Lacy above him? One guy has done it and one guy hasn't yet and both have potential. That certainly doesn't mean Ball can't do it and we all know last years stats don't count, but they sure as heck should be in the back of your mind on draft day.
