This position along with CB and DL will be the toughest to cut as they are stocked with young talent. With that being said there will be at least 3 players vying for the last roster spot and considering the importance of Special Teams I have a hard time seeing a scenario where Tate doesn't make the squad. Who do you see winning the final WR spot?

1. A.J. Green- Bengals #1 Receiver

2. Mohamed Sanu- Lewis is on record stating that he hopes Sanu wins starting position.

3. Jordan Shipley- Productive slot Receiver coming off injury.

4. Marvin Jones- Bengals tried sliding Briscoe through waivers last season only to see him snatched by TB, I doubt they try that tactic again with Jones.

5. Andrew Hawkins- Diminutive slot Receiver who was productive in Shipley's absence.

I would like to think one of the UDFAs have a shot too, but Marv probably won't consider them. Binns is in of those listed. Marv has been touting him this offseason.

If Jones can return kicks and punts, I think Tate is as good as gone. In that case, I think the final position would come down to Whalen or Binns. I believe Binns would still have practice squad eligibility and I'm not sure that would be true for Whalen..... Regardless, either of them could be attractive to other teams. The coaches seem real high on Binns, but Whalen strikes me as the more prototypical west coast WR. Tough call.

BTW -- Not sure Hawkins has a spot on the team if Shipley is healthy. Teams rarely keep two slot specialists.

Hawkins is an unused playmaker, I get the feeling another team will make an offer for him. The Bengals are asleep on that.

But I think they are high on Tate right now being the veteran presence in the WR core.

Don't get me wrong.... I love baby hawk..... I think the Bengals are stupid for not trying to find more ways for the kid to make plays. I'd like to see him as a returner, or used out of the backfield in certain situations. He's a football player and he makes plays. But, in order for him to be on a roster, he'll have to be utilized - Just not sure we're the team to do it.

I think Binns, as I think Adam Jones, Shipley, Hawkins, Marvin Jones can all return kicks or punts.

I'm pulling for Binns. I think it will all come down to ST. If they let Jones take over returning kicks that makes Tate very expendable.

Problem with Jones returning is his health. Seems like he gets more dinged on returns than he does playing defense. I highly doubt they put shipley out there on returns coming off injury.

Given that all of our other corners are above average, I don't think we need to worry about Pacman's health.

I was refering to Marvin Jones returning kick offs. I think PacMan should be situational as a punt returner...but really I want to see what baby hawk can do fielding punts. He's so quick that I think he'd be great.

In my world lol:

A J Green
Sanu
Marvin Jones
and
Armon Binns are locks

Armon Binns easily makes the team, and will start some games

Brandon Tate makes the team

Baby Hawk, I am rooting for over Whalen and Moore, the speedster from UConn

Shipley, coming off an ACL injury... I would start him on the PUP

Ah, my bad. Wasn't thinking about him, but you are right. I believe he was fielding punts this past week during the rookie mini-camp.

Unfortunately he spent the morning practice dropping them!

I could easily see Binns replaced by Tate since Tate has been returning punts and has more experience overall.

If we sign a veteran #2, I'd give Binns/Tate the boot.
