Highly doubt he was brought in to backup Marty for 2 years. Could see an even split this year and Marty retiring after season. Would you rather be left with our dick in our hands if Marty's play completely falls off this year and we have nobody to replace him? Then we would hear everyone bitching about why Lou didn't get a goalie to replace him.
