Unless he is completely unreceptive to a different style of offense, TA will start. How long he lasts is another question. As been mentioned he does telegraph many of his passes/throws too hard when he doesn't have to/and still doesn't take full advantage of the whole field when passing.

Then again it won't make a bit of difference who the QB is if our defense doesn't learn how to stop the run :)

Tommy Armstrong is the 1 and only guy I want at QB next year for Nebraska.

Armstrong may be the best overall athlete, but I have doubts he's the best qb. He doesn't appear to have the mind for the game. I thought it would slow down for him his 2nd year, but he still makes really poor decisions.

TA has the game experience. Does that mean squat to new coaching staff :noidea:

Based on what I've seen from Tommy this year, the competition for the spot should be wide open heading into 2015.

He has tunnel vision issues, and I don't know if that is something that can be fixed. That isn't technique or fundamentals......that's just something you either have or don't have.

If any other QB starts then we are screwed

Even in a completely new system? The only advantage Tommy would have then is game experience, but that hasn't proven to be his strong point.
He was in Beck's system for 3 years. Redshirt, redshirt freshman, and then sophomore. I really expected a lot more growth out of him this season.

I really hope they're all starting from scratch to compete for the start. If they're too close then give it to Tommy, but don't give it to him based on experience alone.

Initially I though MR might go after a juco, however the early signing period has passed and I presume there's just scraps left on that table. If Langsdorf comes in from NYG that would be great news for all of our QB's in general in terms of being legitimately coached. TA made significant progress before the bowl game imo and it will take quite a bit to knock him down to #2 spot but it will be refreshing to know in the QB comp come spring and fall camp that no one guy will be starting no matter what just because he's the guy who played last year

As far as any of us know right now Stanton, Darlington, or Bush could win the Heisman 2 years from now.

We haven't seen them play here yet. I personally do not know if Tommy is better or worse than these guys because we have nothing to compare them off of yet.

The other thing is this.....

Riley is a true developer of QB's.

How can anyone possibly know right now which one of these guys is going to take to that development process the best?

I'm not sure but I am guessing Jed means we'll be screwed because of their fragile psyche right now. Never thought about it but if so he has a point. If not what you meant Jed than I'll take this and make it my idea. Think about it, Pelini has brain washed them that the system is out to screw them.

The biggest thing Riley has to do is get this team to drop that thinking and rally behind him. If he starts firing starters who the rest the team supports than he can have a mutiny on his hands.

You've got to put your best players on the field. That doesn't always mean the best athlete.
QB takes a lot of smarts. I haven't seen that in Tommy.

That may have more to do with the coaching than anything else.

Agreed on the quality of coaching.

However, my point remains the same regarding just playing someone because of game experience.
