Respectfully, I'd like to see a younger, younger coordinator get a shot.
I wonder if JDR is going to stick around at DC?

If they hire anyone other than Zampese, there is a good chance Howell will on his fourth offensive system in four years when the new owner most likely cleans house.

Not saying the hire should be based around a 5th rd QB. Just saying.

Yeah, I didn't say I want Roman, I said he might be who Rivera wants. I don't know.

This is a one year deal anyways. I am much more interested in who the next owner, GM, and coach will be. I am expecting little to nothing in 2023. I simply want Howell to stay healthy and develop IF he is our QB.

I think the candidates know it's a one year gig. Just hire shumur or zampese and call it a day. 2 of the 5 candidates we targeted already said no thanks.
Another possible alternative is the sale for whatever reason doesn't go though. Your new boss for the foreseeable future is Daniel Snyder. So who's gonna make a lateral move to either likely be unemployed in a year. Or be stuck working for Daniel Snyder. Either alternative has much upside.

this position has to be viewed as a transitional move for any candidate with all that is up in the air with this franchise, No one worth their salt is going to sign multi year contract as a coach here unless they are very desperate. All of these candidates that have be let go from other organizations are still being paid out on their contracts, so there probably isn't any desperation there. Consequently, my guess is this will be filled internally.

You want an old guy to work with Howell next year. If it's only for 1 year then you should have a guy with decades of experience to share. Get Howell up to NFL speed and teach him about NFL Defenses.

Lately I've been leaning toward hoping they give him a shot. Sticking with Zampese would be ideal for Howell, but I heard somewhere the last time Zampese was an OC he got fires after two games with two shutouts. Might want to fact check that.

Here is the Zampese story you're thinking of:

He was the OC for one season, but got fired 2 games into his 2nd season b/c the team hadn't scored a TD in either of its first two games.

Damn, Bill O'Brien would have been a nice hire but Bill gets his man, of course.

Interesting hire. He got something out Hackenburg that Franklin couldn't. Penn State was loaded at TE and WR during that time.

NFL career a little over .500. Will be interesting to see how he does with Mac Jones.

He has to do better than Matt Patricia. He was exclusively a defense oriented coach until he became the OC in NE. His play calling was terrible. Not sue what the hell bellicheck was thinking
