Is Whoosh on here, by the way?

Tracy McGrady or Allen Iverson? Why? Word.

Gotta be AI, right? Did McGrady even have a prime?

This is a tough question, because it depends on how you define better?

Iverson was more explosive and flashy, but he also took 1000x shots a game and wasn't a great team player... so who cares if he scored 45pts if he took 50 shots and they lost.

McGrady was just the opposite... showed flashes of stardom.. but then would disappear... and looks like he smoked a joint before every game and just didn't care.

I think Iverson had more potential if he learned how to play team ball and not street ball... but that never happened.

I think Iverson also COST his franchise more than McGrady... so the ROI was about the same in my opinion.

Fair point. Guess my definition is which helped their team win more. Perhaps I'm wrong, but it seems to me
that AI helped Georgetown and Philly win a bunch of games. I don't recall T-Mac having ever helped any team win many games.

AI, I did not watch much of either play but AI has an MVP.

When you've scored more than 18,000pts, grabbed more than 5,000 rebounds and dished out over 4,000 assists......you had a prime.

As far as the OP's question. It's really a tough one. Iverson was always listed as a PG but he was pretty much a 2 guard his whole career. Givin' T-Mac's size, shooting ability and willingness to share the rock......I give the edge to him. But Iverson is definitely the toughest 6 foot player I've ever seen play the game.

T-Macs 13points in 35 seconds to win the game

Poor Shawn Bradley

Like I posted above. I think that the answer to the question lies in which player better helped his teams win games. Could be wrong, but I recall AI doing a lot more of that than did TMac.

AI was the toughest little guard I've seen play, but TMac was the better player. Iverson could score but wasn't very efficient at doing it. He does have good career assist and steal numbers. I think TMac was the more well-rounded player though.

Iverson was probably a little better.

But it is a weird comparison because both are failures for the athletic ability they had.

The best part of every allen iverson argument is where allen iverson homers DON'T give Tyrone Hill any credit for Philadelphia making the NBA Finals.

TMac just because he had a natural position.

Iverson had better handles than just about anyone but TMac had hops for days.

I think Iverson was the better scorer. That being said, I think I would've rather had a prime T-Mac on my team. He was as good a playmaker as Iverson but could do more on the floor because of his length and athleticism. He was a good rebounder and a versatile defender. Iverson was more accomplished but T-Mac wasn't far behind and in their primes, I believe T-Mac gets the edge. Word.

At his best, Tracy McGrady was the best player in the game arguably.

For a few seasons, he was clearly the best 2 guard and not Kobe Bryant in my opinion.

He was doing eye popping things with a complete garbage roster.

T-MAC had the unfortunate luck of playing his best years while Orlando wasted all its cap space on Hill.

Injuries ended his career (first Grant Hill, then Yao Ming, then finally McGrady himself) before we got to see what might have been.

Iverson unfortunately unraveled his own career with the attitude and off court junk.

Tracy McGrady would have won titles on the right team.

There is no doubt that Shaq/McGrady would have won 4 minimum and probably more.

I doubt Iverson would have won titles playing with anyone.

TMac. AI had more heart than anyone he ever played against but in his prime TMac was a monster. For a while there it was up in the air who was the best between him and Kobe.

It was never in the air and TMac was never better than Kobe.
