Would you be happier if Sanders fell to the Steelers? Actually, both could happen I guess.
Sadly, both could happen. If Sanders fell to them, I honestly wouldn't care. Not sure if he is going to be a good NFL QB but would rather have that opportunity with Sanders only vs wasting 40 million a year on old Rodgers. And we all know Rodgers would never mentor a young QB so if you get a QB, having Rodgers around is a waste.

Also, Tomlin's ego gets in the way too often of wanting to stay above or near .500 every season. Which seems to be more important than trying to take measures to make a winner again.
Having an awful year in 2025 and use the 2026 draft as a great rebuild with better QB options in the draft. As they currently sit with a 3rd, 4th and a 6th round compensation pick they are primed (no pun intended) to have a great draft in 2026 (with more picks or use those picks to trade up). Unfortunately, if they sign Rodgers they will most likely lose that 3rd or 4th round compensation pick.

I don't see how this can be blamed on Tomlin's ego. Any idea of bottoming out to get a QB has to be an organizational decision and should not be in the hands of the coach. No coaches or players will tank, as their livelihoods depend on those wins/losses and efforts.

The Steelers have been a weird team in terms of that QB search. After Pickett flamed out, you would think they would retain at least one of their 2 vet QBs from last year. Letting them both go in favor of Mason seems like a step in the wrong direction. IMO.

For the bold part -> Not saying they should tank, the organization lives in a fantasy land based on old history. As for Tomlin's ego, unfortunately, that is the reality they live in.

With the QB, the most logical choice would have been Fields or Wilson. As to why they didn't, no clue because neither would cost them the compensation picks and would help with the continuity of the team. As for Rudolph he was brought in to be the backup due to the fact they had no QBs on their roster (except Skylar Thompson on a future/reserve deal). He is garbage but since there is that familiarity with the team it was an easy signing for Tomlin.

Either Sanders works out and we're all happy, or Sanders and Prime clash with Tomlin's turtleball and the whole thing explodes and we finally get the reset we need. No way in hell Deion lets what happened with Pickett, happen to his boy.

Good outcome either way.
