Any jackwagon can win at OSU, PSU or Michigan so they're coaches are out

Illinois , Rutgers , Maryland ,Indiana , Minnesota have all sucked for some time so their coaches are out .

Purdue and Nebraska coaches are good but too new

That leaves

Dantonio
Fitzgerald
Chryst
Ferentz

Fitz is great but hasn't had a really truly awesome season ( like a top 10 )

Chryst is great but he's not really been any better than the guys before him

So for me it's probably Dantonio 1 Ferentz 2
If this is true then why are they struggling?

Yep. Because teams like michigan, PSU, Texas, Alabama, USC, etc have never gone through rough stretches.

Guess what - Nick Saban isn't the best coach in the country, because it's easy to win at Alabama.

So Franklin can't be considered even though he won at Vanderbilt?

(I don't think he is the best coach, just an example)

Real answer . They're not struggling . They've been a top 10 team the larger part of the last 3 years . They're only "struggling " per blue blood standards . However you make just point when you think 10-3/11-2 is "struggling "

I think Jim Harbaugh is the best one right now. Franklin is right there as well. I see those two continuing their success. Paul Chryst is really good, but I think he has benefitted being in the B1G West. Now with teams in the B1G improving on offense.

Pat Fitzgerald and Kirk Ferentz is not consistent enough to be among the top.

Out of the newbies: Frohm and then Frost. I am not that impressed with F

Not to change the subject, but are we talking all time or current?

All time, this guy wins.

I dunno who is best....but if I had a son, these are the B1G coaches I would recommend to him:

EAST DIV:
Mark Dantonio
Tom Allen

WEST DIV:
Pat Fitzgerald
Paul Chryst
Kirk Ferentz
Lovie Smith

I haven't seen enough of Frost, but perhaps I would eventually add him to my son approval list.

I believe Jeff Brohm is going to get great results, but his sideline attitude bothers me... he blows his gasket way too easily & often, and demeans staff & players publicly (on the sideline) frequently. IMO ass-chewings are for practice and the locker room (coaches need to keep that stuff internal). Sure almost all coaches will occasionally go ballistic while on the sideline, but coaches like Brohm and Saban do it regularly, and in a degrading manner.

The six guys I listed above pretty much carry a more professional disposition on the sidelines... yes, they occasionally go ballistic during games too, but it is something they mainly keep internal (locker room and practice).

PJ Fleck will probably get great results but he reminds me of a creepy cult leader.

James Franklin reminds me of a slimy used car salesman.

Jim Harbaugh seems a bit too much off his rocker.

I don't know enough about Locksley at Maryland and Ash at Rutgers.

Lastly, no matter who the coach is, I would disown my son if he chose the toilet that is Ohio State.
