By the way, you left out the 70 TDs for Wentz versus 48 for Trubs, in one fewer regular season game played over that span.
Yep Wentd has a slightly higher TD% . 4.7 to 3.8.

Trubisky has a better arm than Wentz and has more potential at this point. Facts are facts when you're talking about a non-durable QB.

Like Freeman and Locker in the most significant way... Inexperience.

Freeman left college early. Trubisky only had one starting year. Locker also had under 1,200 attempts in college.
hes been in the NFL for three years. He also couldnt beat out marquise freakin williams.

QB A

Through 3 years

23-18
63.4%
86 QB rating
6.8 YPA
220 YPG

QB B

23-17
63.8%
91 QB rating
7.0 YPA
252 YPG

A is Trubisky
B is the closest comp i could find stat and results wise although Trubisky has a playoff appearance and the other didnt

Doing raw totals over three years is not how we should go about this. If we did it that way - Brees would even be a good comp.

You're supposed to be looking at where Trubisky is in his development right now.

For instance...

Year 3 Starting

Brees (11-4): 65.5% (7th) 7.9 Y/A (7th) 27 TD (7th) 6.8 TD% (4th) 7 INT 1.8 INT% (3rd) 104 Rating (3rd)

Trubisky (8-7): 63.2% (18th) 6.1 Y/A (32nd) 17 TD (27th) 3.3 TD% (30th) 10 INT 1.9 INT% (15th) 83 Rating (28th)

But... if you look at the raw total of their first three seasons.

First 41 starts in NFL

Drew Brees: 61.2% | 8261 yards | 52 TDs | 37 INTs | 6.60 YPA | 82.2 rating

Mitch Trubisky: 63.4% | 8554 yards | 48 TDs | 29 INTs | 6.7 YPA | 85.8 rating

The difference is that Brees had an ass ugly start to his career for some really bad Chargers teams. Then, became borderline elite in year #3. Trubisky had an up/down rookie year, seemed to become respectable in year #2 but only before he crashed back to Earth (looked worse than ever, IMO) in year #3.

Brees arrow was point up. Trubisky's is pointed down. Brees was at an advanced stage of development. Trubisky is still at square #1. I think we would all agree that Wentz was much further along in his development than Trubisky at this stage as well.

My question would not be "find me a good overall comp for Trubisky's body of work".

Instead, I ask "Can you find me a QB who was as bad as Trubisky in year #3 starting? Who went on to become a legitimately successful franchise QB?"

I do not believe there is an answer to that question. I think that Alex Smith is as close as it gets. Steve Young only started two years in Tampa Bay. Trust me, I looked. lol

Freeman and Locker really may just be the closest comps.

Half a season of Wentz is better than Mitch playing a full one. Which he never has, FWIW.

Seriously, when I hear any Bears fan take up for him - I am just utterly baffled. Who the fuck watches that guy and thinks he has legitimate hope of being a franchise QB? He is beyond overwhelmed with the tasks that the position entails.

Outside of his legs. There isn't a single thing that he does well. Which makes it all the more baffling that (outside of the Dallas game) he never ran last season.

For me the biggest red flag was his inexperience going in. You couldn't convince me to take guys like that or a Jordan Love who just wow scouts because of tools but have yet to put it together on an actual football field.

Well, to be fair - Mitch did. Unlike Love, Mitch had a massive season before coming out. The problem was that it was just one season. You never saw him build on it or other teams respond to it.

And Love probably goes in the 2nd round? Yeah, that's reasonable, at least. Big difference between 2nd round and #2 overall.

id argue year 2 for trubs was largley flawed too. He had 12 of his 24 touchdown passes in 3 games, against bad teams. something like 7-8 of his games were awful, others were pretty good, But due to the big 3 games that nagy ran it up, his numbers look smooth for the season.

I didn't notice this before, but that's why I like him for daily fantasy. If you had him in any of those 3 outlier games when hardly anyone else did you probably won some money. Plus he can run a little.
