First name that pops up for me is Scott Pioli. He's who I wanted when Millen was fired, then I watched him dismantle KC, leaving them w the no.1 pick in the draft. They're still recovering.

Let them talk football or coach somewhere else. They won't win here.

None of those guys would come here anyways. All had their chance and passed once. Cowher is waiting for the Giants job. The other two are never coming back.

This guy. Everyone would make 10 million a year, regardless of skill level.

Anybody think Mike Smith can be a option in Detroit?

Kinda felt he was the scapegoat for years of bad drafts by Dimitroff who still has his job.

Not my first choice but, I dont see why not. He did fine before last year. Not like his coaching decisions really hurt the Falcons last year. They had no O-line. There offense could not stay on the field and wore out the D.

Losing their RB killed them. He was a super beast before going down.

I'd be surprised if he isn't a Titan by next week

I can easily see that with MM there. My thoughts of why not is they just went through a huge issue of ego with Whiz. Why would you then hire another ego issue in Kelly?

I still feel he will always be a college coach. Don't see the Pete Carroll comeback out of him. At least in college he can always do it his way with it a GM or owner to answer to.

Our next GM will be Brian Gaine. Calling it now.

Brian Gaine: director of player personnel for the Houston Texans.

Gaine joined the Texans in February 2014 as the director of pro personnel after a five-year tenure with the Miami Dolphins' player personnel department, last serving as assistant general manager from 2012-13.

Gaine, who will be entering his 17th season in the NFL in 2015, has also worked in the scouting department for the Dallas Cowboys (2005-07) and New York Jets (1999-04), rising to assistant director of pro scouting with both organizations.

Gaine was Erni Acorsi's top recommendation for new Chicago Bears GM 12 months ago. Chicago ended up hiring Acorsi's no.2 recommendation, Ryan.

One year later, and now advising the Detroit Lions in search for their new GM, there's little reason to think Gaine is not still Acorsi's top recommendation.

Great detective work. Accorsi also has done well as a consultant. He got Carolina GM Gettleman who turned that team around. Not sure what Ryan will do in CHI but still a good track record regardless.

The question though is what has changed in the last year? Other candidates that have become viable?
