Because he had a better batting average than Bonds, and you think BA is a more indicative stat of measuring a player's production than OBP.

Who is not in the HOF but deserves it??

To me Jeff Kent is the most glaring omission when you look at his production at 2nd base.

Haha- you're trying to patronize me? I was ignoring all other stats for the purpose of my destruction of your ridiculous thesis that BA is a more-telling stat than OBP by giving you a player who has a worse batting average, but a better On-Base Percentage than another player, and asking which player is better.

If you reread my post though, you will see that I said I like to measure BB and BA separately... I am not discounting BB... I just think getting a hit is more important than getting a walk...

Would you agree that there are different roles where a BB can be more important than others...

For example, a leadoff hitter, it is very important that they walk and see pitches... But for a power hitter wouldn't you rather them get the hit than the walk??

If you look at Albert Belle from 1991 to 1999 there weren't many better hitters in the game. The guy was a dick but he was a great, great hitter

Mussina
Schilling
Raines

Bonds
Clemens
Edgar
Kent
Hoffman
Walker
Get all of these guys in. Put Bonds, Clemens and Rose in a special wing complete with a before and after picture of Bonds' head

His 2000 was pretty good too so that's 10 seasons. Led the league in RBI's a couple of times, in slugging a couple of times, lifetime 369 OBP. I tend to give more credit to a few great years than compilers.
