I'm not sure how a player can be considered "the best (insert any position) to play the game" and not be in the Hall. DH is a position, as is relief pitcher and closer. All should be considered for induction. The Hall should serve the game and its evolution over time, not the other way around.

I'm sure some homerism comes into play here, fine, but he's regarded by players, not writers, as one of the greatest RH hitters ever, and that counts for a lot IMO.

That depends how broadly you define "greatest right handed hitters." Certainly not in the top 5, but top 25? Probably.

He definitely is borderline, but his longevity is not that great, He played 17 seasons, but only 10 seasons of over 500 PA... Not to mention, he never hit over 300 in any of those 500+PA seasons...

I stopped off at Sports Chalet yesterday and I wanted to buy a DHs mitt.

They were sold out.
Oh, I guess you forgot bats were sold/are used in baseball

Yes, because we all know batting average is the golden standard of statistics when measuring someone's worthiness in the Hall of Fame

Yes and no, just because there are better indicator stats than BA doesn't mean BA is not a worthwhile stat... Actually, I still like it more than OBP... But that's because I like to look at BA and BB separately as they are separate skills...

I guess in your books Bill Madlock was a better hitter than Barry Bonds

Weird. I picked up that new instructional video "Hitting for Pitchers." It's only 2 minutes long. I guess it doesn't take much time to watch 2 fastballs down the middle and swing wildly at a slider off the plate.

We all have different ways of looking at the stats. just don't tell me Win Loss is more important than ERA.

its not, but I do think ERA is slightly over-rated...
