Whoever thinks the Cowboys are a good team in the first place are a little crazy in the head.

If there's ever been a team that can't get out of its own way, it's the Cowboys (because of Jerry Jones). I don't think they're going anywhere 'til they get rid of the ginger.

If I were Jerry Jones, I'd hire a GM and then offer a dump truck full of hundreds to Nick Saban.

It is the only way to turn the team around but he is too selfish and it wont happen for some time.

I don't see too many people knocking on Ryan or the Falcons, which is a good thing, I guess.

But we did lose key defensive players and OL as well. Just hope the corners we got in the draft live up to their hype.

Look at these stats and remember Brady has a year on Brees.....
NFL Leaders, Football Records, NFL Leaderboards - Pro-Football-Reference.com

The point is the Elite QB group such as Brady, Manning, Rodgers could play in any offensive system and go out there and toss the ball around with no problem. Drew Brees really only fits the WC system and wouldnt succeed in the Patriots system or a system you need a big arm in and play action a lot. Brees doesnt have the strongest of arms and is fairly short so he needs to get the ball out of his hands as fast as possible.

Brees played in 2 systems.....Brady, Rodgers, 1.....you are basing all of this on assumption......

:omg: his stats compared to Brady disproves that....and Brady is the only guy I ever hear called the "dink and dunk QB.....

Brady has played in multiple "systems"

2001 to 2002 -- run oriented, short pass, ball control
2003 to 2006-- west coast
2007 -- spread
2008 -- injured -- out for the season
2009 to 2010 -- west coast/spread hybrid
2011 -- 2 TE
2012 -- 2 TE/No Huddle

And this season will feature a whole new offense.

Brady is far from "dink and dunk"

Not sure when taking the sure completion even at shorter yards became a bad thing.. then again, people have always been blinded with Brady hate.

Jerrah fire himself? Not going to happen. Garrett is as good as gone after 2013, but may not last the year if they really start sucking. Jerrah has to fire a yes man HC every couple years to deflect attention away from his abysmal job at GM. Then find another subpar yesman paycheck collector HC that will never question his actions.

I agree I'm always the first to defend him. What most people call dink and dunk is really when you have a QB smart enough and quick enough To go through more than one read. When you see Brady, Brees, Rodgers and manning throwing to 7 or 8 different receivers in one game or you see dump passes, most of the time this is not by design, it's the first 3 or 4 guys were not open. Most QBs get to 2 guys before they run or get sacked or throw it away....say what you want, Brees is and has been elite and will go down as a top7 all time and gets another SB and 3 or 4 more years at his current pace and will be in the talk as one of the top 3 to 5 all time.....

A lot of people complain about J.Jones role as the GM, but they rarely complain about the talent on the team.

Maybe he is, but I don't get the sense that he's mulling over scouting reports and film...I'm sure he's paying some underling to do the grunt work and he just takes credit for the transaction.

Saban...It didn't work in MIA for certain...imo he needs an environment that gives him the most control over the entire pie and that aint the NFL.

You can have near total control in the NFL with the right owner. Bill Belichick answers to no one but Kraft.

Yea, but we're talking about a HOF coach...at this level.

Off his 2 SB wins, I think Shanahan was the last full control HC hired and he might be on his way out if they can't win a playoff game soon.

He wasn't when he was hired. He did a respectable job in Cleveland and IMO wasn't given near enough time given the disaster of an organization they were, but he wasn't particularly special when he was given control.

I am not trying to claim opportunities are frequent, but I believe if that were the only thing to hold Saban back from being a very capable NFL coach, he could find an opportunity where the owner was willing to give him the proper authority.

Idk the dynamics of BB's job in NE from the outset, but I would like to think he's earned more control than what he started with.

On Saban...Cowher made it clear he wanted full control and maybe there was an owner willing to give it to him, but not the high profile teams he was interviewing with.

All things being equal...Saban is the be all, end all at the college level and he's making a mint. Does it really make sense to give that up for more money to deal with players he can't control? Some great coaches are just better suited for the college game.

I don't know that cowher was necessarily deserving of complete control, but yes, it is true you're going to probably start with at best a mediocre team if you want that. The patriots weren't exactly world beaters when Belichick took over, although they have been fairly respectable as a whole since Kraft took over.

Cowher...this is just my opinion, but I think that's why he left PIT when he did...he wanted more say in personnel matters and that's not the Steeler way. Sure he wanted to spend more time with his ailing wife etc. but he clearly wanted more control.

Worthy? I would say as much as the guys who were getting it at that time...Holmgren, Shanahan, etc.
