How about Dick Vermeil?

I wish you hadn't posted that. :L

Steve Underwood has been monitoring fan reaction on tHoop all day and he saw your post and has been burning up the phones between Nashville and Dick Vermeil.

Dick Vermeil has been in tears since he heard the news.

Does this mean that HD is going to be a Titans fan again? Or would that take a complete overhaul of the FO?

I think it will take a change in ownership for that to happen.

So, today on Twitter, Banner, who now works for ESPN tweeted "There are so many things I could say" about Whisenhunt getting canned. But he kept it classy...

Too bad. If I'm Banner, I drop the hammer on him. If he tried to publicly belittle me and affect my career, I'm responding in kind.

Thankfully, it probably won't matter since Ken is never getting a head coaching job again.

Not an NFL one, but some college team might consider him.

Perhaps... But I think his personality would clash with the college game. What parent would want their college age son to play for a guy who has publicly ripped his starting QB to the media?

He's an OC, nothing more.

I'm not saying it would be a good idea just one a desperate college might make.

Jake Locker set your team back 5 years.

Locker was simply an extension of the Vince Young draft pick... Locker was a mash-unit in college and that also continued into the NFL.

Maybe I'm trying to see the silver lining here but when I watch Mariota play, I see a guy who seems calm, understands the game, and has the overall ability to be a winner in the NFL. Now I, like 99.9999999% of the posters on this site don't get paid to evaluate NFL talent but like most (I assume), I've played and been around the game enough to see what someone has the "potential" to be a good player.

The Titans issues steam from the ownership all the down. They have a lot of gaps to fill on both sides of the ball as well.

ProFootballTalk wrote a story about how it would be possible for Chip Kelly to go to the Titans, @HammerDown.

I heard someone say today that the team was more likely to be sold than not because of their ineptness to build the team....
They were a beast back when we were in the same division and beyond that....Never could replace McNair though..
I was shocked when they let Fisher go, he's a good coach...Good luck with Mularkey, I don't think he's gonna make anything better...

I highly doubt they hire Mularkey. My guess is Josh McDaniels is the next coach of the Titans.

What makes you think he would want that position, unless he feels he has the formula to win there, it would be disastrous for his career, having already been fired from a HC job with minimal success....
They should go after Coughlin IMO, he would bring discipline and family back to that team....

Well the rumors are circulating that McDaniels wants that job to work with the young QB. It is why the whole HC search hasn't really heated up as much in Tennessee compared to other places that really went hard at it.

It all starts with the QB, however for the QB sake I hope McDaniels doesn't land the job.
