I build water treatment facilities and hydro dams and have been in and around serious work with serious and less than serious trucks for 35 years.
That's how I know and who I am.

There is a real reason that there are more Fords on construction sites and used by more utilities than any other.
Toyota does build a fine vehicle, all of them. Corolla to Tundra, and all Lexuses too.

But if it needs to be worked, if there is a job to be done, Ford.

ok, that's great.

because 'Murrica!

but seriously, I wonder if Ford gives American companies a discount for buying white, baseline trucks to work with.

I doubt Toyota even bothers with that build.

I'd buy a new F150 if I needed something that big. As of now, my Tacoma is the perfect size for what I need it for. I am all about practicality.

Same here. I work in an office for Godsake, i don't need a behemoth so I can spend $200 a week on gas.

I would have bought a Ranger if they had been available when I was ready to purchase.
Instead I bought a Taurus SHO. I drive an F-150 all day, I don't need something that big for my personal vehicle as well.
Single point turns are fantastic compared to the 8 point turns sometimes required in the 150.
I saw one of the new Rangers on the road and wasn't a huge fan. The Chevy and GMC midsize pick ups look good though, I may consider them.

This is my take on it too. I think the Chevy Colorado is good looking, but won't buy GM. I was wanting to look at some Ranger options, but could never find one. Got something else

I can borrow my brother's Chebby Silverado if I need anything remotely resembling as truck.

He'll even lend me a paper bag to wear so nobody sees me.

But I still spend $200 a week on gas.....

I plan on sticking with my Tacoma for as long as I can. This is my second one and I have never had an issue with them. Toyota makes a good truck.

Nobody buys a Tacoma to work out of. They only buy it because they can't afford the one they really want.

This is an old Ford (F150??). For sure it had their legendary "Twin I-Beam Suspension" that barely broke a light bulb on the NHL Ford commercial I grew up with.

Trucks are working vehicles, not meant to be all pretty and shit... And this one was working.

well of course not. we buy tacomas because they look much nicer and hold their value much better than any other truck.

but as far as a "working" truck goes, a tundra would be just fine.
If you’re mowing grass, a Tundra might work. If you’re doing real work, you need at least a 2500.

I’ve got a 2016 F150 as a daily driver. I have an 84 F250 to work out of.

They're nice trucks. My last daily driver was a Toyota(88 4x4 pickup, thing could climb a telephone pole). Wish I never sold it, but I needed to build some credit, and the Ford was cheaper, but it's a nice truck too, a little too nice since I always drove old beaters before I bought a new truck.

Now, if you ever wanna hook bumpers, I'll put that 460 big block in that 84 F-250 up against anything Toyota ever made though, I'll just need to fill up with gas before and after.
