As bad as the call involving Brady was roughing the passer calls are actually down this year. In the first 5 weeks last season there was 51 calls, this year there have been 28.

The 2nd video still wouldn't be a foul today, and rightly so.

The same people who whine about roughing the passer calls are the same one's of whine about endless 3 and outs from thier back up because thier start QB got hurt on a sack.

Maybe someday they will realize the first part is to prevent the latter.

I think it only matters if your team is involved with the short end of the stick

It shouldn't be, but I guaranteed a flag would have been thrown.

It wouldnt have been roughing the passer. He is out of the pocket and not throwing the football so he has given up all his protections.

Might get called for helmet to helmet though.

It shocks me people calling that the "worst roughing the passer call ever".

Where the fuck have people been? Two or three years ago it wouldnt have been a news story because that would have gotten called every single time. They were calling roughing the passer penalties on guys who literally grazed a QB head a couple of years back. They have greatly loosened the rules on that recently. How do football fans not realizing that?

They have GREATLY loosened the rougher the passer calls over the years. So much so that now when we get one like that Grady one, people are shocked when a flag is thrown.

All the people whining like little bitches over the calls last week are actually going to get the NFL to call MORE roughing the passer penalties and not less. Because the NFL is going to continue protecting the QB's so that leaves them with the only available change they can make is to tell the refs to call in MORE often so that when you have to call one in an important situation, it doesnt look like an outlier.
