Any word yet which city is obtaining them? Or which city is the frontrunner? I would love Portland to pick them up, just wish Paul Allen would invest some money into it. All we have is the Blazers and I think Portland would be a great market for some NHL. Winter Hawks have a good following in the WHL.

Isn't Phoenix only having a team for one more season?

If they were to move the Coyotes, Quebec City would be my guess. Not sure if there's another American city that can handle a team next season?

EDIT: and by next season, I mean 2012-13

Do you think KC would embrace hockey though? Not that Gary thinks about that when moving teams to cities (clearly).

But Quebec ranks higher than Wisconsin IMO. It would be best for the league, they deserve it.

I suppose it would be viable for a couple of years, then fade away. Just recently they have fallen out of contention as a possible choice for a team to relocate to.

They were talking about perhaps moving a team to Houston, Portland, Seattle, or Duluth.

I really think Quebec is the best option, and while I like the idea of Wisconsin getting a team...I don't think they could support one. And it's Packer territory up there. Another pro team?! Blasphemy. Another NW team would be a good idea though, like Portland or Seattle. It'd work well there.

I would love it if Portland got one. As the NW doesnt have any teams except for Vancouver. But unfortunately I could see Seattle being a more appealing city as they don't have a winter sports team anymore in the Sonics, Portland has the Blazers. So if Paul Allen were to even buy a hockey team Im sure he would send them to Seattle. Which is unfortunate because I would probably become season ticket holder if Portland were to get one.

i will be pissed if Seattle gets one because that means Portland will never get one. Wisconsin makes very good sense.

US Cities I think could be successful with an NHL franchise (arena pending, I undestand a lot of these do not have arenas)

1) Milwaukee / Wisconsin
2) Seattle
3) Portland
4) Kansas City
---
5) Possibly Houston- huge city, supports their other teams- very untraditional market
6) Las Vegas - would be a huge gamble, but could really pay off for the NHL.

If I was commish I would move the Islanders to one of those within my first 30 seconds on the job.
