Sox, first you type," If they don't deserve the be ranked #2, who does and why do they deserve it over OSU?"
Then you type,"I'm not claiming that Ohio State is unquestionably one of the top 2 teams in the nation and will undoubtedly be in the NCG."

Are you looking for good banter, or are you conflicted?

IMHO, Ohio State is good, but are they top four caliber? - Who the hell knows. Any team can be beaten on any given day and beaten badly. Good fortune, catching a few breaks and avoiding the injury bug will help tOSU this season just as much as other teams from the B1G & other conferences outside the SEC (as that has been covered earlier). tOSU's chances are as good as any other team in the country and yes Urban Meyer (not Oscar's brother) really is a great coach.

Not at all. I personally believe they are worthy of being ranked 2nd. That said, I can't remember the last time the top 2 teams at the beginning of the season rankings ended the year in the same spot. Basically I'm saying that, while I have no way of guaranteeing we are a top 2 team, I feel we make as good of a case or a better one than anyone else in the nation. TBH, I'm not sold on Bama as the #1 team for sure. There are a lot of very, very good teams in the country. If you throw Bama, OSU, Oregon, Texas A&M, Georgia, Florida State, Texas, South Carolina, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Clemson, Louisville and Florida into a random matchup generator for this upcoming season, I'd bet you the majority of the matchups could go either way.

As I said the other day, it's still the offseason so all we can do at this point is speculate. However, look at the checklist OSU has going for them -

Heisman-caliber QB? Check
Stable of RBs? Check
Elite, experienced offensive line? Check
Seasoned defensive backfield? Check
Coach proven of showing elite success in his 2nd year at each program? Check

That's a lot of stuff going for us.

If NU had gone 12-0 last season I'd say they were worthy of a #2 ranking to open up 2013.

Alright alright.....you were right, I was wrong. I didn't do my homework well enough. Now we can move on.

Can't wait to see Ohio State beat Alabama in the National Championship!

Honestly, that is the last thing I want to see. If Bama makes it is an almost automatic win. Somebody has to take them down in the SEC, prob two teams.

I want to beat an SEC team to win it all, and I know Bama can be beaten but it seems like tOSU struggles against those ground and pound teams including LSU. And Saban with a month to gameplan is a fucking nightmare!

I simply agreed with you that San Diego St. over OSU was one of the better possibilities for an upset...

And then all hell broke loose.

FIFY. And BYU got beat by Virginia, which looks good for our odds to stay undefeated against mid-majors OOC. Outside of bowl games, we haven't lost one since 2003.
