Nope.Getting ready to beat Clemson again
Nope.Getting ready to beat Clemson again
so whaddya think now, rat?5-0. waiting for you to tell the board how shitty they are, and that kelly should be fired.
oh, they lost a game. kelly should be fired immediately.so whaddya think now, rat?
you're really thick, you know that? you're happy with a little better than average program that's fine for you. i'm a little more particular.oh, they lost a game. kelly should be fired immediately.
if a #4 ranking is average, so be it.you're really thick, you know that? you're happy with a little better than average program that's fine for you. i'm a little more particular.
there is no way that notre dame is the 4th best team in the nation. beating a bunch of nobodies plus a win against a decimated REALLY good team doesn't make you #4. the name and record (aside from clemson, the teams they beat had a combined record of 34-60) is why they're #4. you know in your heart i'm right. if they stay at 4 and play alabama expect another slaughter.if a #4 ranking is average, so be it.
maybe give charlie weiss a call, and see if he's available.
north carolina is also ranked and dropped 62 on miami. nd's schedule was as competitive as as anyone's.there is no way that notre dame is the 4th best team in the nation. beating a bunch of nobodies plus a win against a decimated REALLY good team doesn't make you #4. the name and record (aside from clemson, the teams they beat had a combined record of 34-60) is why they're #4. you know in your heart i'm right. if they stay at 4 and play alabama expect another slaughter.
kelly isn't much better than weiss imo. and this is my gripe! kelly has always lost the big ones and usually badly. if you're happy with kelly and his w-l record then you aren't much of a fan imo.
and have nothing to show for it (unless you think beating iowa state was momentous). and for the record, their schedule is/has been weaker than most top teams!north carolina is also ranked and dropped 62 on miami. nd's schedule was as competitive as as anyone's.
what needs to happen is nd needs to hire you as ad, so you could make just the right hire. any idea who that would be, btw?
notre dame has 4 loses in 3 years, 2 of those to clemson. the other 2 tough road games. they've not been a top ten recruiting school for decades. kelly is exceeding expectations.
i took nd +20 against alabama today. we'll see what happens.
in the last 4 years, 4 bowl appearances, 2 final fours, and 2 wins. how many other schools can say that.and have nothing to show for it (unless you think beating iowa state was momentous). and for the record, their schedule is/has been weaker than most top teams!
your excuse for their 'lack of talent'? is noted and rejected.

you can reject what you want, that doesn't make it true.
you basically just like to bitch.
it's four appearances, 2 wins, with one left to play. let see which nd team is going to show up on saturday. the one that went 10-0 or the one that was dominated by clemson in the rematch.i hope we can get to the point where two final fours and four bowl appearances in four years is considered unacceptable. Unfortunately, over the past 30 years, this is the best it has been. One loss in a season when we had the 8th hardest schedule in the country is not a failure, especially when the opportunity still exists to win the National Championship. Right now, we have the third best season in the country going. With an opportunity to make it the best, over the next few weeks. I wouldn’t swap that position with any other team. Honestly, I’d rather be playing Alabama this week than Clemson. I look forward to the National championship being a best two out of three with Clemson.

if they want to improve they'd probably have to lower academic requirements like the ohio state's and some of the other perennial top football programs. at the moment they are a top 10-15 not a top 5 recruiting school. if they can continue success it will bring in better recruits though.
I understand but they did a little during the Holtz era and Notre Dame were a power house. If anything they need to go back to those academic requirements.i don’t want to see them lower the academic requirements.
don't think a coaching change is the answer.i don’t want to see them lower the academic requirements.
not just for the sake of change, but a coaching change is definitely needed unless you're happy to just have a 'good' team every year with no chance for a title. kelly HAS never and WILL never have an elite team, and even if he DOES get the players he's still a terrible field coach. always has been. i know that's good enough for you, rat, but some of us have higher ambitions.don't think a coaching change is the answer.
2 ap all americans this time, which is probably high compared to the nd teams of the last couple of decades.
bama has 6.

this is kelly's 3rd trip to playoffs. many might consider a top 4 team elite, or at least very good.not just for the sake of change, but a coaching change is definitely needed unless you're happy to just have a 'good' team every year with no chance for a title. kelly HAS never and WILL never have an elite team, and even if he DOES get the players he's still a terrible field coach. always has been. i know that's good enough for you, rat, but some of us have higher ambitions.
and bad is better that terrible. the difference is only where you want to draw the line.this is kelly's 3rd trip to playoffs. many might consider a top 4 team elite, or at least very good.
how were they before kelly arrived? even lou holtz was struggling towards the end, urban meyer chose to go elsewhere. very good is better than bad.
I think reaching the playoff is the ceiling for Kelly for what its worth. The only difference is I'm not sure they are going to do better. The clear lack was speed at the WR and CB positions they just couldn't answer Alabama at those positions. It's frustrating to watch the team not be competitive. I didn't feel like they were aggressive enough early and the defense just wasn't ready for Alabama's speed. I'm not sure that they wouldn't have been better off with Lea leaving for Vanderbilt because the defense wasn't the same the last two games after that news broke.and bad is better that terrible. the difference is only where you want to draw the line.
that's the issue. would coaching have made the difference, and if so who. there's an old saying, you can't teach speed. when you've got 6'2" running backs hurdling defenders 5 feet in the air, without breaking stride, it's a scary site. sure don't want to go back to the weiss/davis/willingham, etc era. lou holtz was struggling toward the end of his nd career, and even a devout catholic like urban meyer chose to go to the football factories where he could recruit freely, instead of notre dame. just doesn't seem prudent firing a coach who's keeping his team consistently top ten, but not winning the national championship.I think reaching the playoff is the ceiling for Kelly for what its worth. nobody wants that. all those guys were lousy picks and we all knew it when they happened. what i had HOPED for was a top, experienced and proven winner. a guy who knows how to motivate a team before going out on the field! we never got that. i'm just tired of beating up a bunch of nobodies to average teams and then getting shellacked at the end of the year. always hoping a new, better coach can change that.that's the issue. would coaching have made the difference, and if so who. there's an old saying, you can't teach speed. when you've got 6'2" running backs hurdling defenders 5 feet in the air, without breaking stride, it's a scary site. sure don't want to go back to the weiss/davis/willingham, etc era. lou holtz was struggling toward the end of his nd career, and even a devout catholic like urban meyer chose to go to the football factories where he could recruit freely, instead of notre dame. just doesn't seem prudent firing a coach who's keeping his team consistently top ten, but not winning the national championship.
all that said the team did look a little flat the last 2 games of the year. nd seemed to be turning the mo against bama then book was picked which killed it. can't remember the last time i saw him throw a pick like that.
