Or sign Cousins and trade for another player with Love and some contracts.

Altman needs to go ham on this roster, there is only so much you can do with this roster but Love would have to go to try and get a 2-way wing player

You sign PG.

Then you flip Love and the 8th pick for Kawhi, possibly another player

Tank you, come again.

Hill
PG
Kawhi
Lebron
TT

Clarkson
JR
Korver
Green/Nance
Zizic

Stop it. The Cavs aren't getting Kawhi for Love and the 8th pick. The Celtics, Sixers and Lakers can all put together more attractive packages than that.

Also, even if they did that, pretty sure they won't have the cap space to get PG.

You think Lebron is going to want to take a chance on Boogie's Achilles? With the Cavs cap situation, what 2 way wing are you getting that's going to entice Lebron to stay and take a chance on Boogie's Achilles?

Not trying to drop a turd in your punch bowl. Just don't see much way to improve your roster enough to entice Lebron to stay.

Paul George and then trade Love and the draft pick for another player. Just spitballing.

I think Lebron could go to Philly and I think they could get Kawhi too. They have a ton of assets and flexible wth cap

I don’t want this to happen but it could:

The Sixers sign Lebron and pay him $35 mil, give or take.

Contracts on the books for 18-19:

Embiid $25.25 mil
Covington 10.46
Bayless 8.57 mil (I think they trade him)
Fultz 8.33 mil
Simmons 6.43
Saric 3.28
Luwawu 1.88
Anderson 2.52
Holmes 1.6 (player option)
Mcconnell 1.6

That’s 69.92 mil

You trade Bayless for some assets maybe a draft pick - 61.35

Add Lebron and you are at give or take 96.35 mil

You trade Fultz 8.33 mil, Saric 3.28 (maybe Luwawu) and your 10th pick for Kawhi (20.09 mil)

Your cap is at 104.83 mil and you can bring back JJ, he wont make as much most likely maybe 10 or so but he would probably take it with this roster.

Their cap is still not even 115 mil and you have this lineup:

Simmons
Redick
Kawhi
Lebron
Embiid

Still a pretty good bench.

Mcconell
Covington
Luwawu
Holmes
Add in a couple veterans...

You don't have the cap space to sign PG as an FA. I don't think you can trade Love without taking back an equal or close to it amount of salary.

I don't think trading Love would get the Cavs the cap space they need unless they can convince PG to do a sign and trade.

Even if they were able to do that, which is doubtful, it's going to cost them Love and the #8 pick. That leaves a bunch of bad contracts that no one wants because they have 2 years left on them.

So you'd basically be replacing Love with PG. That makes the Cavs better, but not better enough to even get out of the East, let alone, take down the Warriors or Rockets.

To sign PG you would have to get rid of some of these bad contracts TT/Hill/Smith which would be very challenging and not much return but if they could they could pair two wing guys or maybe one big man with Lebron. I doubt it, but we will see. I say just draft Porter, Young, Sexton and roll with it. Make some other trades, if Lebron leaves then mix up the roster more and get some young guys. Then hopefully you get a star from that #8 pick

The problem is that those contracts don't even have value as expiring contracts because they have 2 years left on them. The Lakers are in the same boat with the Luol Deng contract, which is why there's about a 99% chance that they will have to stretch him.

The Lakers only have the one bad contract and likely can't move it. Doesn't bode well for the Cavs to try to get rid of 3 or 4.

I don't think there's enough alcohol to get another GM(s) drunk enough to pull that off.

Love and a middling pick? You should ask for Kawhi and Aldridge!

Hire a good coach

I'd chase Mark Few at Gonzaga

I think he is most likely to follow the same path of success as Brad Stevens

@Shanemansj13 ...

I like you Dude.

But, the math says all this is impossible.

There is no way you get Kawhi for so little.

There is no way you have capspace to sign Boogie or George.

There is no way any team is eating Tristan, Hill, Jr contracts without attaching an asset.

This situation is untenable.

Yep. That's why I think their best long term solution might be to just let Lebron go, try to trade Love for picks and an expiring contract or 2, spend next season getting their heads kicked in and try to move some of those bad contracts as expiring deals after next season.

Well there is always hope. Teams wants veteran players. Now the TT contract they will have to live with. Hill and JR are possible but dont make sense.

That’s 30 mil with those too.

I doubt Kawhi goes anywhere, he likes SA. If the impossible happens they could get PG but I doubt it.

Is that enough? Add PG, lose Hill and JR...

I think if they lose the series you'll see a lot of changes. I doubt Lebron's back. Move a few more players and "start over" is what I think they should do.

That's not how it works.

You would still be over the cap.

Remember all the " Highest payroll ever" talk?

I think the cap is around 103 mil.

Your 2018 Payroll is almost 140.

You lose two salaries and you are still over that.

Math beats hope every time, my friend.

I'm not trying to Shit on you. But, you have to be realistic.

Your only hope is for a dollar for dollar trade.

Nobody is giving you treasure for trash without attaching assets or eating a bad deal.

Ex.... Hornets give you Kemba. But, you have to take Batum too.

You give them Hill and a pick.
