I was eager to see what sharp was going to fetch. I guess I'll have to keep waiting. Is there any other date after the draft that a lot of deals are made? Sorry, I'm relatively new to hockey, but I've always enjoyed the playoffs, even before the Hawks got good.

It seems the teams that were not able to make the trades they wanted are waiving and buying out the players today. Bickell will probably end up being waived and bought out since they cant make a deal. You would think that Bolland and Frolik type of deals to at least get some picks next year. Hawks were asking for way too much for Sharp so we really could not see what he could have gotten. Dont know what happened with the red wing deal, maybe something changed after Datsuk had ankle surgery and might miss the beginning of the season.

CHI traded Saad because he was looking for 6 yrs with AAV of $6.5M. May have been an offer sheet coming tomorrow from a team with those #s.

I heard the same thing on ESPN radio. $6.5 mill puts him above everyone else on the team except Toews & Kane.

I really liked Saad. He skated hard and rarely took shifts off.

yes, he was a really nice player. One thing against him is when Q benched him mid season, thought he needed a wake up call. Its all gonna be understandable while Kane and Toews are performing, but their deals would break any teams back.

I thought Morin had a chance to be special, just never had a place. He skates hard, constantly got pucks to the net, I guess we see if they keep him or move him in another deal.

Also getting two pretty good young centers, which might end up taking the dream away of having Teuvo centering Kanes line.

Was looking forward to Paliotta being in that d competition too though. I guess Stan has really been chasing Anisimov too.

I guess the more I hear, Dano was the key piece for the hawks. Dont know if its because the other center is getting 3.28 million this year. I guess I wont be surprised if the only guy that stays here is Dano out of the 4 and that fourth rounder next year.

Saad will be missed, but I guess a guy wins two cups by the time he is 22, he can go the rest of his career without winning any. (Yes, bitterness is taking over) Latest report was Anaheim was the key team in this deal, they were ready to offer Saad 7 million per year.

Thats hockey baby, you want to get paid you gotta make your mark and go where the money is. Hawks at least controlled sending him to the east. I dont know what Columbus needs to do now, QO him and match the madness or do they already have a deal in place?

Artem Anisimov signs five-year extension with Blackhawks | Chicago

A day after Stan Bowman acquired Anisimov and three other players in exchange for Brandon Saad and two prospects the Hawks committed long-term to Anisimov, signing him to a five-year contract extension that carries a $4.55 million cap hit starting in 2016-17. Bowman made it clear he thinks the 27-year-old Anisimov can be the Hawks’ permanent answer at second-line center. Anisimov had seven goals and 20 assists in just 52 games this past season, but scored 22 goals in 2013-14.

I guess they are already using up the Hossa dollars that go down after next season.

Report: Brandon Saad 'crushed' by trade to Columbus | Chicago

Miscommunication with his agent? I guess they were expecting 7 million from Anaheim, so a half a million can be considered a discount.

Richards signs with the red wings, Vermette goes back to Arizona. No word on any offers to Krueger, but with the Hawks signing the new guy to a 4.5 AAV you gotta wonder if they will allow Krueger to walk. Pretty sure Saad was only at 842k so its the bridge they expected Saad to accept with the Anisimov deal at 3.28 next year to get our 14th guy and the cap at around 68.

I'm sure the agent was chasing the $$. Saad should have stressed to his agent the need to stay in Chicago. Maybe back load the money for 2017 or 2018? Liked Saad. Will miss him. But I'm getting bitter too. If it was that important to stay, then you took your eye off the puck.

I like what the Wings have done adding Green (and Richards).
Losing Vermette may mean losing face-offs, unless Anisimov is good at the dot.
I'm worried about Oduya. I'm sure he's as good as gone. But we need a 4th D-man.

P.S. I wonder if all of this movement also means that we can keep Sharp? Talk of moving him sure died down quick.

I really dont know how they can unless they buy out Versteeg and or Bickell if neither can be moved.

I thought you get to that point of stop asking for 3 controlled players and realize you NEED to clear space. I mean if you go to 2015 NHL Free Agents list - NHL Free Agency 2015 and look at UFA's and say, if this team loses THAT guy I can see them needing to make a deal for Sharp, then I can see moving him. Teams that wanted to get involved with a guy that missed out might be the only trading partner. They only have til tomorrow to decide on the buyouts and its really the only choice for Bickell. They are already plus 2.5 with Anisimov over saad.

I like the Desjardins signing.
Watching the rebroadcast of the parade on NHL Network.

Sorry if this was already mentioned, but Versteeg nixed a trade to Monteal before the draft. Also, Dano has a ton of potential. I've been following him for awhile. Anisimov is good too, but is really more of a 3C.

I still expect one forward to get moved, and a veteran d-man to be signed.

Sorry, apparently the Versteeg trade rumor was false.

I heard the guy on NHL network say that Dano was really the key to the trade, not any of the other guys, but stan seems to be moist in the underpants for Anisimov, donning him Patrick Kanes second line center we have been looking for. Bottom line, it looks like the hawks brass believe Teuvo is a wing.

Saad took 6/36 with columbus. Dont know if Columbus claiming they will match any offer was enough for Saad to not get offers, but I thought the Hawks could have worked out that deal with Hossa being at 7.9 this season then 4 next and 1 the following. They might have been able to do that bridge and extension by working out terms for 3 next year then bumps to get him to 36, but when Stan moves on, Stan moves on.

Today is the last day for buyouts so you gotta wonder if Bickell and Versteeg will get their releases today to free up 8.7. Dont know what time the deadline is.

Hawks want to bring back Oduya and he wants to return, but they need to free up cap space. His agent claims he has another offer on the table.

If they do bring him back, he is probably still the first of the main 4 d man to get traded away so I think its more of a not sure about Johns and TVR remaining healthy enough to play all 100 games that would make them sign oduya. Did not hear of any buyouts on the final day so now its 2/3rds of pay over two season hit on the cap if they move with Versteeg or Bickell.

help me out here...I'm looking at sportrac's multiyear breakdown of cap hits, and it shows Hossa a constant $5.275 every year through 19-20. Where this cap hit decline you keep referring to?
