Colt Keith is a very good prospect. The Tigers apparently feel he is worth a bit of a gamble. He has carried a .300/.382/.512 slash line through the minors. He could break camp as the Tigers' regular 2B or 3B this season.

The Phillies did it with Scott Kingery. Also a great move. It's like Kingery's dad pulled the owner out of a foxhole back in "Nam so he feels like he owes it to him to take care of the kid.

At least on paper, he looks better than Kingery or Evan White. But still you'd think they'd want to see him in some major league games.

Good for him. The union needs to start pushing owners to pay their members these kind of deals. IMO they need to structure their rookie deals like the NFL, though they need to combine the international draft and domestic draft.
