This season Dubi got a fine for grabbing a player on the bench
Last season Dane Byers got an automatic for an instigator in the last 5 minutes, and Torts got a fine for that (who the heck is Dane Byers?!)
Couldn't find any for 2008-09
And no info beyond those years. So, no, a Rangers player hasn't been suspended by Collie since he took over. An automatic doesn't count.

Yes. Because he's needs to be held accountable for the choices he makes. More GMs need to step up, or owners, someone...they have to or nothing will change. I honestly thought there was a corner turned, but clearly that was naive.

Campbell shouldn't be involved in any disciplinary decisions involving Rangers games. His BIAS is so bad it's ridiculous. The league talks tough on cleaning up the cheapshots. When it comes to doing anything about it they're SOFT.

It's why the league needs a disciplinary committee - One person who has clear biases and still harbours thoughts of one day holding a NHL GM post again should not have exclusivity on these decisions.

He took a lot of heat from the fans & the media for an incident earlier in the year. I was hoping he'd get fired. For some reason Bettman believes he's doing a great job. I have absolutely no idea why.

Just wait until it's leaked that Campbell has signed a 5 year extension like Herr Bettman.

This.

I see no reason why a committee of independent parties shouldn't be involved.

I would prefer for it to be the "other" 28 GMs (excluding the GMs of the two teams involved in the incident) that all vote. Actual suspension is the rounded average of those recommendations.

It's not a bad idea but bias would still come into play. Say Jim Rutherford of the Canes had a say in what Gaborik got. He could say give him 10 games just to up the average. How would they go about deciding a suspension. Secret ballot?

I think the league should have a former referee decide disciplinary action. Referee's know the rules front & back. It would also eliminate the perception of bias.

I don't like the idea of 1 person making the decision. Period.

As for the bias piece, I think secret would make sense to avoid retribution for strong votes, but they could also do something like some judgment sports do where they throw out the high and low (or top/bottom 2, 3, etc.) so that you account for those outliers.

Can't say I'm surprised its Definately horse shit.Would be nice if some of the other gms would speak up.I'm sure the isles will be vocal. It's these flaws in the nhls discipline system that make me want the instigator penalty dropped. And I can not remember the last rag suspended either.

They don't even necessarily have to designate a number of high or low votes to throw out. Just find all statistical outliers. There shouldn't be so many that it would be an issue. (And by that I mean there are so many "outliers" from teams that would benefit from a hefty suspension that they no longer are statistical outliers.)
