Things are setting up nicely for the Roman hiring, I see.

For awhile I thought you guys might be right. I was sweating the Whiz hiring. Let him whiz on the Titans.

Arizona? San Diego? Did you really think this nutless wonder would override his wife and pick Detroit?

While we can all agree that this was unexpected, we may soon realize it is for the better. If Whiz gets the job, he is sattled with potentially unreal expectations. Whom ever they choose to hire won't have to take on that same burden. However, he'll likely carry the burden of knowing he wasn't the first or maybe even second choice, likely encouraging even more motivation for success to prove wrong all of the doubters.

This is true. When we hire Jim Caldwell I assume we'll get worse. And since this franchise never fires the coach they didn't want to hire in the first place maybe he'll find some success in 2018 or 2019.

Millenhew and LewanDUI (also known as Dumb and Dumber) need to go. They should have gone with Schwartz. There isn't any way to put a spin on this that doesn't end with the blame squarely on them.

I've typed a second paragraph to this post about 5 times now and deleted each one because I cant find the right words to describe this situation. Fuck it, who cares.

So who is Caldwell going to bring in with him as OC and DC??? I guess this means the 4-3 stays. There's the lone positive.

I read something about Jim Tressel. No joke.

It was reported last Friday that Jim Caldwell was bringing Ravens Secondary coach Teryl Austin as his DC. Austin has 3 years experience as secondary coach.... per Freep

You guys are too funny. For a while I thought you all let your wives post on your accounts.

I wanted Whiz too but its not like he is the only coach in the world. No way to really know who will have success or not. Its not that big a fucking deal.

I would just give any a hire a 2 year deal and that's it. 2 years (or less) to prove yourself a worthy HC. Burn through 1 a year if necessary, It does not matter. I would be more concerned with what coordinators we end up with. The reason I liked Whiz so much is that Ray Horton would most likely come with him. Maybe that's how we screw Tennessee back by hiring Horton as our HC.

Caldwell, who met with vice chairman Bill Ford Jr. during his interview, is expected to bring Ravens secondary coach Teryl Austin, a former assistant at Michigan, with him as defensive coordinator, and Kansas City Chiefs assistant head coach David Cully with him as offensive coordinator, though he might retain play-calling duties.

Never heard of David Cully.

That's a nightmare. Two first-time coordinators.

You have to look at the positive. Since neither have been a coordinator before, at least they haven't picked up any bad habits.

Also -- would it surprise you at all to see the Lions hire a coach who would bring with him an OC and DC, who have never held those positions before.

It wouldn't surprise me, but I'd hate it. This is not a young team with no expectations that a coach has time to grow into his roll with. This team needs to win now.
