Not allowing any references to Native Americans is irrational. What's wrong with Native Americans? Why can't they represent the strength/power of a football team? Calling them a Warrior is obviously not the same as calling them a Redskin.

Of course the name Redskins can be considered offensive. But that doesn't mean an image of a Native American is offensive. You can keep the native guy and just change the name to something that rebrands it, empowers Native Americans and doesn't trigger (sensible) lefties.

Washington fans still have their cool native guy on the helmet -- and he no longer has a derogatory name and everyone is satisfied. Easy.

I think most football fans will think redskins for awhile. I just laughed at the actual thought someone would even think American soldier as the teams helmet logo. Guess it would fit a few of those name finalist. It certainly fits the political aspect to the area, and I guess you'd guys have rightful claim to the America's Team tag with an American soldier and all on the helmets.

with regards to West Virginia...1961, RFK stadium is Washington Redskins. Those TV shots with the game score and the Capitol in the background was Washington Redskin football.

Red Wolves are actual animals that had a range in the area. So that's far and away the best choice.

RedHogs isn't a thing. Just an excuse to shoehorn 'Red' in there. Rather they just go with 'Hogs'.
