What position do the Lions still need to address?

After posting about the O-Line, D-Line, and OLB I was wondering what position does everyone think the Lions need to address in training camp.

Schwartz and Mayhew have had in 4-5 UDFA at DE. I think they are tipping their hand in where they feel they need to improve or lack depth. IMO they have Ansah and thats about it. Jones is a rotational DE and DT. Young a pass rushing specialist, and I have not seen anything that makes me think Lewis or anyone else is ready to be a force.

The Lions brought in Winston Justice as a OT and I think that is a smart move as well...maybe not Justice but some experience on the line. Three new starters with little to no experience is tough.

The OLB position may not be as pressing if Palmer and Whithead come through. I would have liked to have seen a better compliment to Levy but with a broke ass cap you can't get a probowler at every position.

Where is the Lions achilles heel going into training camp?

Geesh, It's going to be tough to decide where the achilles heel is.....It could be the O-line....the DEs, the LB core......For all we know, it could be all three.......How about FG kicker?

We have way to many uncertains for the Kool-Aid drinkers to be clamoring to 11-5 and 12-4 records let alone anything better then that.

Yes, this team is talented according to ESPN but It was talented last year according to ESPN......

Until I see all these new guys play alittle were a 7-9 8-8 team.........

Come Muzzer....

Give me your best guess what position the Lions need to address before the season. As any great talking head knows you can change your opinion after you see the third preseason game!

I just can't see the Lions going into the season with either Jones or Young as the compliment to Ansah. Lewis has not shown anything and the revolving door at DE is starting to make me wonder why not bring back Lojack!

Those were my best guesses......I think DE, OL, LB core FG kicker......I think a lot of people think with young unproven drafted guys we plugged a hole......

I have no idea what we have.....Fairley and Suh.....Sure were good....DE no clue....

Sims on the O-line is the only one I trust.....Havn't a clue how the other 4 will play or adapt.....

Again I'm serious....Who's our FG kicker?

That leaves me with LB core......Tulloch is fine.....Maybe he's great surronded by junk.....Maybe he's average and Levy is the one carrying the weight. (doubtful)

I love what the Lions did in the draft. Houston and Delmas are just fine when healthy.......

Slay and Quin.....Don't know....Havn't seen them play in Gunthers scheme yet.

Honestly, I wish we had a thumper at FB. If for nothing else than goal line plays.

I think the plan is to occasionally line up Williams as a FB, but I agree a full time FB would be huge for us. Looks like we should have been using Felton for blocking, not as a short yardage back.

My best guess -- I still think Detroit tries to bring in a LT to fill in for a year and move Reiff to the right side. I don't think they want to have both tackle positions with inexperienced players, when they like to throw the ball as much as they do.

The OL will struggle early, but hopefully as the year goes on, they will start to gel. I think they will be better at run blocking, but will struggle at times in pass protection.

I think the biggest weakness on the Lions will be their OLB position, but I don't think the Lions will do anything to address that this year, as they will see if they can either get by with Palmer or see if one of the players they drafted last year can play the position. And well -- you all know my thoughts on Levy, so need to get into that.

I think the Lions will be vastly improved in the secondary IF Delmas and Quin stay healthy and Slay can step in and start. I think the Lions RBs will be better, as Bush will keep LeShoure fresh and vice versa.

The only other thing that concerns me with the Lions is the DE position, as we don't know what kind of production we will get from there. They could be great or they could be a big flop. We have no clue until we see them on the field. I don't like not having any experienced players at that position, as it is so important to the wide-9 defense to pressure the QB from there.

Less than 0% chance of this happening. Time to stop believing the pathological lying pre-draft media. Whether is was smoke by the Lions, or made up assumption news by the media, "Reiff being moved" was a lie.

I agree with those saying that it's tough to tell where our biggest weakness will be. Both the o-line and DEs will be featuring multiple new starters, but the guys stepping in all have the talent to be an improvement over their predecessors. How fast they get up to speed is the key there.

At OLB we have three young, unheralded guys fighting for the starting spot. While one of them may turn out to be a gem, I'm not as confidant with these guys as I am with the OL and DEs.

Kicker, Punter and Return Specialist will all be new players as well, so there's a lot to sort out still...

I don't think it had anything to do with pathological pre-draft lying. The reason the Lions didn't move Reiff is because the top 3 left tackles were off the board when they drafted at #5 overall, as they went #1, #2 and #4 overall. If any one of them fell to the Lions -- I believe Detroit would have spent their pick on the OL and Reiff would have been moved to RT or inside.

Reiff also would have been moved to the inside or to RT if Backus didn't retire.

Until we see what the Lions have in their youngsters, it remains the two OLBs. If just one of them could step up, it would be huge. Who knows, it could be Levy. Sometimes a light just comes on.

Gotta agree with '68 here. I am more concerned about our OLB. Not so much that Levybisnt serviceable, but I have zero faith in Palmer. From what I've seen of him, I don't think he possesses the skills to even be a serviceable LB. I'd love for him to prove me wrong though.

If Levy was Von Miller then I think the OLB position vacated by Durant wouldn't even be a concern. Whoever plays their I just hope they can tackle. The number of blown tackles in the last two years drives me crazy.

I have been very, very disappointed that the Lions didn't sign one of the veteran FA LTs to a 2-year deal to provide a bridge to Rieff. Hope Stafford stays upright this year.
