Thought this was an interesting read from HH.

Interesting take, but he screwed the numbers on the Kirk Deal. Signing bonus can only be prorated over a five year span. So that would bring his cap numbers up by $1.7 million in each of the years but the final year of the deal. But this would in turn lower the final year of the deal from a cap perspective.

The thing I liked was seeing a projection of how a mega deal for Kirk could be fit in with others.

Oh I agree with him it can be done. But my question is going to be the cost, and where we go short in other areas. UNless its a backloaded deal, Kirk is goig to take up around $16-20 million of the $45 million I think we end up with in cap space. If we have to tag him again... all bets are off. I think we lose Jackson and Garcon due to cost. Doctson is only a mild factor in this equation to me. If he balls out and becomes a #1 WR, it just makes parting with PG and DJ easier. But either way, I dont think either are here next season.

Going to have to hit on players we drafted to fill the in between.

Agreed, but this is where I think our GM might have let his ego in this area put the team as a whole at risk.

I can see why one might have that POV and it's always possible.

No doubt it's a calculated gamble on the part of the team. Pay now or pay more later.

Either way, should be interesting. Only way I dont see this causing more drama than its worth is if they some how manage to get Kirk on a pay as you go type deal like the 49ers did with Kaep... But right now I see us holding a pair of two's and hoping both flip cards are both 2's as well. :D Cause to me its was odd to pay a guy $20 million for one year because you didnt want to pay him $20 million on average and the best case is you end up in a position where you end up paying him $22 million per year any way.
