Yeah I figured it was in that range.

It just depends on what you get with it/ on it. I have the yamaha 115 but you can max it out with a 150 if you want. I got the cushion package which is a huge cushion that fits the entire bow area and the bench across the back. i also got a bimini top for it and a boat cover. Then you throw in the stainless steel prop (which I didn't pop for) and the cost keeps rising all the time.

Yeah I was surprised when I started checking boat prices and they were as high as they were. I didn't think they were as expensive.

Sometimes I'd rather have a 16-17 ft bass tracker or something along those lines. There's lots of skinny little rivers here to fish, but I can't get that boat in them safely. As soon as I save up enough dough, I'm going to buy the material to build me a little 14 ft cypress strip boat and throw a 20 horse on the back and hit those rivers.

Well mine's an 18.5 footer and I would love to have a 21 ft. boat. When you start talking about 23 ft. and up, you're getting into some BIG boats. I love the Seahunt and the Yamaha though. I've had it for 3 years now and have had only 1 problem and my local Seahunt dealer took care of that free of charge.

I would have loved to have had a Pioneer, but it was a little too rich for my blood. Pioneer is a combo between Key West and Scout. At least that's where the owners came from. One from Scout and one from Key West. They make a nice boat with top notch fit and trim which is where Seahunt kind of falls behind. I would recommend staying at 21 and under unless you're absolutely sure you want something bigger. That's a LOT of boat and motor.

we want to be able to go grouper fishing.. we have a 18ft bass tracker and its not big enough for the gulf or ocean.. looking at the 45k range or under.. i would even consider a used boat if the price was right but definetly going to stick with the 4 stroke yamaha motors.. want a 200-250 though.. with a bimini or t top.. would prefer the t top but thats not a deal breaker.. we lookin hard right now.. hope to buy before feb of next year.. i'll shop until i find the right boat with the right price.. im a hard ass like that though.

If you you want to go offshore I would say go with the T Top for sure. You can't fish around a bimini and you need some shade out there. It's brutal sometimes. And yes, if you're looking to go offshore 21 -23 is ideal. Sounds like you know what you're doing.

Why are boats so expensive? From the amount of money it cost to make it seems like their making crazy profit, but I could be wrong.

I mean is making a boat so difficult that the price is so high for that reason? I was shocked when I saw decent boats were expensive as nice ass cars. I'm mean your boat was 20-30 grand, that's a nice car.

If you buy one, don't go cheap necessarily.

I spent more on my pursuit.. I could have gotten a much cheaper boat like a Mako (which are still nice) or even went lower to things like Wellcraft, etc..

The difference is... when I wanted to sell my boat after 5 years... I sold it for about $10k less than I bought it for (and it was over $100k)... and there were only 2-3 higher quality boats for sale like mine at the time in Florida. Look online for cheaper boat models and there are hundreds if not thousands for sale.

I sold my boat in under 2 weeks... in fact I had interest just through word of mouth before I actually put it up. I have friends who bought cheap and after 2 years are still sitting on them paying for something they can't get rid of.

And as much as you think you may own a boat forever... that is generally not the case.

With little kids now, I got rid of my 42' Post a couple years back and bought this li'l sweetheart last year. It's a "Seaway" which is now owned by "Eastern." They make downeast style boat for the sloppy waters up there. It's great for kids because it has a full head for the girls despite being a smaller boat. Good for goofing around as well as going offshore and putting the outriggers down for tuna n such.

Boats are not expensive, the engines are, the electronics are, all the little extras you need add up. The boat itself is reasonable. Anyway nice boats guys. I got a steal on mine but it's nothing fancy. But I'm living next to lake Erie now and it really fits my needs.
