trying to make it something it is not. Anyways, there are the games for the glorified BCS that is now decided by a committee instead of voters and computer formulas.

Correct. All what they really did was add an extra game onto to the schedule, and increased the subjectivity of the sport.

With the Rose and Sugar being a semi-final bowl, I suspect the committee is going to favor the Big-10, Pac-12, SEC, and Big-12 conference champions.

New Year's Eve. 3 "new school BCS" games on Dec 31st.

So are the Gator, Outback, Cap One, bowl games still played on the 1st?

This is odd. 3 of the new marquee bowl games in this new age CFP are on New Year's Eve... not sure what to think.

Ya, so the new lineup for huge pay day bowl games are above. We all knew that the CFP games were....

Cotton, Peach (Atlanta), Fiesta, Rose, Sugar, Orange.

2014 - 15 bowl lineup (all the big ones on and after Dec 31st)

Peach Dec 31st

Orange Dec 31st

Fiesta Dec 31st

Cap1 Jan 1st

Outback Jan 1st

Cotton Jan 1st

Rose (semi) Jan 1st

Sugar (semi) Jan 1st

CFP Title Game Jan 12th

take some getting used to.

might as well kick the Outback out of a New Years day game, and add the Cap1 Citrus Bowl to the huge payday CFP lineup.

CFP after all = Glorified BCS

There's no "new bowl game" here. All what they did was allow the Cotton and Chick-Fil-A bowls to be apart of the semi-finals. As far as I can see, the bowl games, apart from the National Championship game, are just secondary consolation prizes.

No, not the context I was speaking of.

Old BCS we had Rose, Sugar, Orange, Fiesta, NCG

New BCS (CFP) we added "new bowls" Cotton and Peach to the lineup. Now they are the $17 million bowls also.

That is what I was saying. And yes, they are part of the Semi rotation.

I'm just glad to see whoever plays for the NC no longer has over a month to prepare for each other.

I don't think you will see another conference win the NC 7-8 years in a row again with the new format.

I agree man. Been on the same page since I heard of the idea. It will spread out a lot more throughout the conferences.

I know this. All what he did was give the Cotton and Chicken Sandwich bowls a pay raise. It's still a consolation prize.

well when the Rose Bowl isn't a semi game, it won't be a consolation prize to many fans out west or in the B1G.

But I get your point.

The Rose Bowl is really the only relevant consolation bowl game out there, simply because it's the oldest aka Grand Daddy of them all and sells out pretty quickly, but at the same time, it's not a National Championship game.

The more I think about it though, I really don't why we can't make the Cotton, Chicken Sandwich, Fiesta, Orange, Rose, and Sugar bowls into National Championship games. I mean, if the system wants to continue its tie-ins and encourage people to take time off from work, travel to a new city, buy plane tickets and hotel rooms, and pay inflated prices for nose-bleed seats, then why not make them into National Championship games? You can even have the AP, Harris, and coaches vote on the mythical best team after all the smoke has cleared.

Minimizing the Rose Bowl is a travesty and having a small biased committee without oversight and transparency is beyond dumb. This will be a cluster fuck

I am not sure if the 4 team "playoff" will hurt the Rose Bowl's ratings and revenue stream, but this new system is headed for disaster.

Selection committees don't work, when you install no safeguards (no automatic bids), an extremely low number of participates, and have a wild, wild west criteria for picking the teams.

The system would be better off, if they moved back to the old old system.

it hurts the prestige of the Rose Bowl. Just as the BCS already did.

the rest you're spot on. This is so stupid.

Meh...the prestige of the Rose Bowl was hurt more by the mediocrity of the Big Ten over the last 10-15...especially in years they sent their runner up.

or the fact it's still a consolation prize bowl, regardless of the toppings.
