I just went back and looked at previous seasons as a whole in terms of scoring. If you have six guys that score 25+ goals, you generally have one of the highest scoring teams in the Nhl. We should be right there like we were two seasons ago.

Barring injuries i am in total agreement with this and this makes for an enjoyable game watching experience. I like to watch an up and down high scoring game more than a defensive battle,

i could see those 6 guys averaging around 25 goals a piece, giroux and voracek will probably get a few more (i expect 30ish from them).. and simmonds/hartnell/read/lecavalier i think will be between 20-25.. even with that great depth though, that's only 1.8ish goals per game.. i think the fleyrs will need to average around 3 g/g to be competitive this year (right around the top 5 in offense from 2011-12).. so they need 75 goals from the defense and the other 6 forwards

talbot: giving him the benefit of the doubt, i say he can get 15
rinaldo: 5 tops
laughton: 10 tops
hall: 5

streit: 12, giving him the benefit of the doubt playing on a good PP team
timonen: 5
gus: 5
coburn+grossmann+schenn: 5

total: 63

so by my math and my guess theyll 33 from schenn and couturier, which isn't world beating if they share the load, and not a huge increase from their 25 combined in their rookie seasons.. but they will need to produce

i think if everything goes that way, and when guys get hurt, their production gets replaced by whoever fills their slot (rosehill, mcginn, cousins, noebels, bourdon, lauridsen etc.) the flyers should be in pretty good shape

i like this also but a few over ratings and a few under but all in all it would work out the same I like Rinaldo for 10 and Talbot for 10. i like Simmonds for 30 this season I expect more than 5 from Coburn + Gross+ Schenn will have more than 5 goals Im hoping after last year Gus has a few more than 5 and i dont know if Hall reaches 5

Hartsy had his goal production nearly cut in half this past shortened season from the season before. A lot hinges on whether he can rebound to his 30-30-60 form of '08-'09 and '11-'12. If he struggles out of the gate again, I bet we see someone take his place in a hurry. We are short at left wing though unfortunately, but I'm sure Lecavalier would be more than happy to fill the role aside Giroux and Voracek. That line would be stacked with offensive talent.

Hey if you were willing to give up 3 firsts for Weber I would do it for Alex P.... though I dont see the Blues just letting him go they will most likely match.

3 firsts from us would be so late in the draft if i was St Louis i wouldnt do that.

Well first off, it is 4 firsts. :)

Secondly, I've come to realize how important 4 1sts really are. Sure, Shea Weber is amazing, but it's just impractible to try and have a competitive team without 1sts rounder for four years. You need to have cheap ELCs in your lineup if you want to compete

The hell with Pietrangelo. We got Streit, and let's go with what we have, and see how that pans out.

With the surplus of young forwards the Flyers have,I don't see a problem trading for defensive help down the road.

We are gonna roll with what we have this would never work out cap wise.

so much, this. unless you're completely incompetent on draft day, there is not 1 player in hockey i would trade 4 first round picks for. 5 or 6 years down the road you could be getting twice the production for the same cost. hell, if you sucked at the time of the potential trade, you could be getting 3 or 4 times the production for the same cost.

We as a team fair very well with our late first round picks also. Going back to '98, Gagne, Williams, Carter, Richards, even Downie, Giroux, Sbisa and now perhaps Laughton all appear to have been solid choices.

Yes, there were some duds in that time, but also three years without a 1st round selection. Overall, that's a lot of talent drafted late in the 1st. Giroux may be the greatest of them all.

Just some interesting facts on the 1st round of the 2003 draft:

"Ten years ago, the NHL had one of the most productive draft classes in its history. All 30 of the first-round selections have played at least one game in the NHL; 27 have played at least 200 games; 24 have played in an NHL All-Star Game; eight have been key contributors on Stanley Cup-winning teams, and six wear the captain's "C" for their club."

24 have played in an all-star game?

6 currently wear the "C", plus Richards who has worn it previously?

Wow.
