1) bench LFB - the game has finally passed him by. Too old, too slow, too much of a liability. Te Lions went to the middle on every third down. He can't get back to break up the passes, and he can't stop the run. He may be a "coach" out there, but it's not really going to help if he can't stop the plays he actually calls right.

2) Bench Merriweather and Rambo - out of position, terrible tackling, terrible angles.

3) bench Orakpo - missed tackles, no sacks, not really "opening up holes for others on defense. What is he doing well?

4) move Hall to safety, start Wilson, and pray - Hall can't cover, but he can actually catch the ball when it's near him. Wilson can't cover or catch the ball when it's near him, but he seems to be better than amerson.

Start the backup ILB (kehl) in Riley's place (can't possibly be worse).

I have to admit....I didn't think this defense would be this bad. Still plenty of time. Maybe they should fire Haslett now and get it outta the way.

Well you can't bench all of those guys.. certainly not Orakpo. There aren't any/many better options on the bench. I do like the thought of moving Hall to S .. thought that would have been a good move at least to try in camp. Merriweather and Rambo have been very disappointing. I think Rambo will get better in time and has big upside..but he just isn't anywhere close yet. Merriweather needs to go after this season (assuming he makes it through the season). I hope Philip Thomas is better than this. There are going to be a number of holes to fill on that defense via FA. I am not sure we can draft more than 1 day one starter with the picks we have this year.

Orakpo isn't the problem, how we use him is. He should NEVER be dropped back to cover a RB or TE. He is terrible at it and it makes our pass rush weaker. Rak is not the elite player we all hoped he would be, but he does do one thing well, and that is pressure the QB. He doesn't always get there, but he does collapse the pocket, allowing others to get to the QB.

I agree about LBF. Yes, he had a sack yesterday, but he came in on a blitz untouched. It wasn't like he beat anyone. He is an absolute liability in pass coverage and no longer has the closing speed to run down RBs around the end. If he is such a good coach, give him Hasslett's job, he can't be worse.

I don't know if you saw the comments from some of the Lion's after the game. They all basically said the same thing. The scheme the Skins ran on D was always the cover one, leaving the middle of the field wide open. Johnson said it was like being a kid in a candy shop. We never adjusted. Hasslett has to go.

If what you are claiming is correct - which I believe that it is for the most part - then yes Haslett does need to go.

He is a large part in this mess for two reason - 1.) he had a huge part in selecting these players & 2.) he puts them in a position to succeed and/or fail based on his overall defensive approach. There are numerous things that you & others have pointed out that appear to be placing these players in the worst position to take advantage of whatever strengths exist.

As for selecting players - yes they were handcuffed because of the cap sanctions & limited amt of picks. However - he could have at least found players who don't give up record setting #s & coached up some of the existing players to improve & minimize their negative pts (e.g. work with Meriweather to stop dropping his head on tackles).

I just want to explode when I read posts here from people who state that the coach is not responsible & that it all falls on the players. While I agree that the players have to assume a big part of the plan ultimately the coach is 100% responsible. Just like in any business in the end mgmt always is responsible for the end product.

Again - I can live with Haslett surviving the season (hope he goes), but if he is brought back for yet another year & they underperform I am going to go nuts. HTTR

He won't survive Oakland if Pryor has a field day like everyone has so far.

I didn't see th post game comments from the Lions b/c I didn't need to: I saw the game. Haslett didn't adjust because he absolutely CANNOT adjust. Hell, he and I are BOTH watching the game from the cheap seats, and I sure as motherfucking hell can tell what play they're running, and I SUCK at Madden.

Oh look! It's third and nine, and Burleson is lined up opposite the tight end, with Megatron split wide. I wonder if they're gonna call quick slants again?!?!?!

Unreal.

Orakpo needs to be benched or put on the dline permanently. Rob Jackson in one game, and Brandon Jenkins in Oakland should take his place.

LFB as coach cannot be worse than LFB as pass-non covering MLB. It's too bad, b/c LFB has been an awesome addition to the redskins these past four years, and I would definitely want him to be a coach for the redskins, when he does hang them up. It's just........time.

As for the secondary, I'm not sure why you wouldn't experiment with hall/Wilson etc, considering that they are statistically one of the worst defenses, ever.

Really - REALLY - it can't be worse.

Unfortunately Pryor may not play and Haslett's job may be safe for another week. In any case, Denver gave you a template to beat the Raiders however, our coaching will get in the way!

Haslett did adjust so you would be wrong about that. It worked in the 2nd and 3rd quarter but two blown assignments after Robinson dropped the TD pass cost the defense. I'll say again what I said earlier, why are there so many blown assignments? I know mistakes happen in every game but there does seem to be a lot of missed assignments.

Poor coaching period. Haslett needs to go. But Im also starting to wonder... what purpose does Niles Paul really serve now?? I expect us to lose to the raiders, have the come to Jesus meetings over the bye week, and squeak out a 6-10 to 8-8 season in which injuries and the cap penalty will be the excuse of the year.

I'm in agreement with Shark, Haslett has to go. I can't believe I'm saying this, but we need Snyder to step in right now, and send a message to this team. When your defense has given up more yards, thru the first three games in NFL History. Yes!! I said History!! That's just plain pathetic!! Obviously the message is not getting through to the defense. 42 missed tackles, thru three games, countless dumb penalties, this is just insane! Rak is continuously out of position, even Fletch is committing dumb penalties. This team is a total mess.

Ummm, no he did not. I don't know what game you were watching, but stafford completed the same exact play in the second, third, and fourth quarters out of the same formation. Haslett never adjusted.

Stafford missed a few easy ones, the wr's dropped one or two of them, and the redskins generally were lucky to stop the lions as opposed to actually stopping them.

While I agree with the Premis that Haslett needs to be fired......I DONT WANT IT TO BE SNYDER!!!! We have finally got him doing what an owner needs to do....Hire a Competent GM and sign the Checks.....It shoudl be Bruce Allen or Mike Firing Haslett and NOT the owner...

We dont want or Need our Owner coming in and breaking his word that he is out.....We dont want or need that....Our front office has Finally gotten the STENCH of Snyder/Ceratto out of the building...we dont need to let any of that back in!!!!

Definitely agree on that! That is why I would rather they sit tight then go with the suggestion of some of firing the entire coaching staff (which seems crazy to me). It could be the circus all over again!

I had to laugh a few days ago when Colin Cowherd suggested that RG3 is in the pocket so much since he believes that Snyder issued the directive to limit RG3's runs. Cowherd quite simply is talking out of his ass!
Bottom line - Snyder needs to keep out of all of these matters except whenever the time comes to completely re-do the front office. Otherwise - it could be another 10+ years of trouble.

You are joking - right? Does the name Steve Spurrier mean anything to you?

Nope! Spurrier didn't do well because he didn't dedicate himself to the job. Details, details, details under a microscope wins games in the NFL. Saban is that kind of coach.
