Started early myself, too. I had a couple of Voodoo Ranger IPAs. For dinner we had burgers and and an Anderson Valley Pinot Noir.

Another Anderson Valley red. This one's from Lula vineyards. You've got to go there and join their wine club to order it. Worth it.

Another Fear Movie Lions from Stone. It's about the only non-local beer I drink. Maybe I'm in a rut, but damn, it's good.

The GF had a migraine which she insists is from MSG in her tacos last night. So I ate the leftover tacos and she made a salad from the shredded chicken she cooks up for dog food. She spends more time cooking for that fuckhead dog than for us.

My brother dropped off a twelve pack of Steele reserve with a card that says thinking of you on this father's day. He knows I haven't touched that shit since my college days. He thinks he's so clever, lol.

Done for the evening. I had a Swishy Pants from Dewey Beer, then a Fear Movies Lions from Stone and then we split a Pinot Noir from Toulouse.

Well, shit. I just read that Stone Brewery, one of my very favorites, will be sold to the Sapporo conglomerate from Japan. None of these Big Beer acquisitions ever work. The craft beers fade to irrelevance. The craft beers lose their imagination, their drive. Big Beer plays the MBA management game and cuts corners until the spark of the original beer is gone.

Goose Island (Chicago) used to be good until Budweiser bought them. Old Dominion (Virginia) actually bought themselves back after Bud tried to ruin them. Dogfish Head here in Delaware was bought by Sam Adams, itself nominally a craft beer, but the imagination seems gone from them now, too. Lagunitas was bought by Heineken.

As long as local craft breweries keep appearing, though, I'll be happy.
