Why am I having flashbacks to Martin Lapointe's contract with Boston?

I don't know quoi, because that contract was an abomination at the time it was signed. Maybe a better comparable would be the Habs signing of Brandon Prust:

Prust: 4 years, 10 million
Hudler: 4 years, 16 million

For an extra 1.5 million per season, I'd much rather have Hudler (and I like Prust, but not at 2.5 million per season).

I like this quote from new Flames coach Bob Hartley re: acquiring Hudler...

“I believe in team toughness. I don’t believe in stupid hockey. If some teams try to be stupid with us, Jiri Hudler makes our power play much better.’’

“I feel like we’re getting the prime of Jiri Hudler and it’s up to us to maximize it.’’

Wideman should also help quarterbacking the PP coupled with a bomb from the point.
