I don't see this getting better anytime soon. If this shit continues thru May, it is time to clean house and start over. These bums that won't hit--trade him. Rebuild.
28 runs in 11 games for the Reds. They keep this up and they'll be the new AAAstros of the NL. I like what Price did by tinkering with the lineup batting Votto second. Unfortunately, it produced no results.
Need to make a package deal and ship out the dead weight. Put 2 hitters and a pitcher on the block and lets get this started. This is worse than I expected and it won't get any better because the same issues are appearing night in and night out. At this point, only Votto, Para, Simon, Chapman and Mezo are safe. The rest of the these P/T players batting .065 needs to get it going or get the fuck out.
I am waiting for the **yawn** it's still early and things will heat up soon enough.
The fact is, these are teams that are ALL taking 2 out of 3 AT LEAST IN EVERY SINGLE SERIES.
Once the Parrots get through with this milk toast lineup, the Reds will be 8 games back.
There are trends and there are trends ... and the trend for this team has been this way for FIVE YEARS. I am about to agree -- fuck it -- if you want to be the AAAstros, at least do it cheap.
We saw this same shit last year with Dustmop at the helm. The only difference is that Dustmop compounded the problem by being a stupid manager. But even his bafoonery can't over shadow the glaring weakness that this team exudes in hitting the baseball. We keep saying that their young and they will come around. Well guess what, we can't use that excuse anymore. Guys like Cozart, Bruce, and Frazier have played in enough games that they should be better than they are. Today is a day of urgency or this season is lost.
Even if the team breaks out of this so-called slump, it doesn't signal a trend toward anything positive. The trend is already established -- and has been since Scott Rolen retired. I am also frankly a little weary of Votto's defenders continuing to whine that he shouldn't change his approach.
Hey, SOME-body needs to change their approach.
Unless you count going 2-for-40 as a change from last year.
As bad as the Reds have hit, they aren't getting blown out- they're losing by a run. Takes a little different turn when it's 1-0 so often, but it isn't going to take much improvement in the offense to turn those into wins, is it ?
Im not normally an optimist, and I know it sounds cliche, but playing two-thirds of the season so far, against World Series contenders, it doesn't surprise me they're 3-8 or whatever.
I've seen Bruce hit .160 for a month before. Did anyone expect Price to make this a good baserunning team in three weeks ? Cut down on the wiffs and make .240 hitters into Pete Rose ? Never seen so many people frustrated in a slump bitch when a Reds player walks...or attempts a steal. Price isn't a magician. This team is better than the current record, because the rest of the MLB teams on the schedule aren't the Cards and Rays. Ike Davis isn't going to be the MVP.
This was by design a team that could win in the 85 win range. Just because last years team should have won a post season series or two, doesnt mean it got better without Choo, Chapman, Latos, etc. This team isn't going to have any starters hitting below .200 by Memorial Day, and they'll have more than 3 wins in every two weeks also.
I see the Parrots are going to send Wandy out there again on Monday.
The Reds have only faced Wandy 24,281 times, so we know what he throws.
Geez, do we have to face this turkey 50 times a season?
