Some things I noticed in last night's victory over the Cleveland Browns.
  • Sean Payton continues to get Mims the ball more. Paid off last night.
  • I'm not sure that Lil' Jordan Humphrey saw the field at all. Good.
  • Javonte Williams isn't our future at running back. Finish this year with Estime and McLaughlin and look for a stud in the draft.
  • A bunch of Lucas Krull sightings. After his training camp, thought we would see him more this year.
  • Bolles had a couple penalties. Lucky to not have more, since he was holding on a lot of plays. Tough assignment with Myles Garrett
  • Courtland has become so clutch
  • I had no idea how important Riley Moss was to this defense.
  • MacMillan had the game of his life.
  • Nik Bonitto has arrived.
  • Wallace has no place on this team. Safety play was also a liability last night.
  • I'm not sold on Troy Franklin. He's a rookie. Will be interesting to see if he fully develops into a great NFL receiver.
  • Vele regressed a little last night. I still think he's going to be a big part of our future.
  • Two picks by Nix last night. One was clearly his fault and the other was partially (tipped up in the air).
  • Nix can put great zip on the ball. He's clearly not just a dink and dunk guy like many accused. He can sure look good throwing on the run.
  • Broncos coaches have been pretty good at halftime adjustments this year. Yesterday was the exception.
  • I like the blue uniforms but nothing compares to their new orange throwbacks with the "D" helmet. Overall, the new uniform package has grown on me and similar to 1997, it's been accompanied by a resurgence in the team and a return to winning expectations. I love Bo Nix so far and the only image we have of him is in the new duds.
  • The Broncos have really moved into a new era. Walton/Penner group has replaced the legendary Pat Bowlen, Elway's fingerprints are no longer on this team and Sean Payton is clearly driving the culture now. Feels like the Broncos have really turned the page and onto a shiny, new chapter.

I think the Broncos took a huge step back, aesthetically, with their new uniforms. They look godawful to me, should've just stuck with what they had, or go back to the orange crush unis.

I still agree with this take, but the new uniforms are not as awful now as they once were.

The throwbacks that they wore this year were pretty freaking nice. Easily my favorite of the year. I still hate white jerseys over colored pants but during a game they don't look as bad as I thought they would. Still hate them. The new blueberry unis (from last night) look better and I liked the white helmet with them more than I thought I would. The look is distinctive and I wonder if all of these looks make it easier for Nix to "see" his targets. Elway once said that he would see a flash of orange and gun it in there, that it helped him spot the receiver. I hope so.

i actually didn't mind the white helmets from last night, but I HATE matte helmets in general, so it was a bummer to see you guys go to a matte-navy blue helmet, ugh.

Some things I noticed in last night's victory over the Cleveland Browns.
  • Sean Payton continues to get Mims the ball more. Paid off last night. Yes, but he needs to do it even more. It is much better and as he showed he is a game changer.
  • I'm not sure that Lil' Jordan Humphrey saw the field at all. Good. Same thing I was texting OC, LGM and SS last night. Expecting Reynolds to be activated today and Do Lil' Humphrey back to the PS.
  • Javonte Williams isn't our future at running back. Finish this year with Estime and McLaughlin and look for a stud in the draft. Yeah, I think we sorta determined this early in the year. We also have Badie and Blake Watson who the team is very high on. RB draft is crazy good, need to add one. I like Estime as our back. I love Javonte but he has really regressed since his bad knee injury.
  • A bunch of Lucas Krull sightings. After his training camp, thought we would see him more this year. Solid special teams player too.
  • Bolles had a couple penalties. Lucky to not have more, since he was holding on a lot of plays. Tough assignment with Myles Garrett
  • Courtland has become so clutch Bolles played terrific vs Myles. Penalties suck esp the illegal formation but he was also covered up so that isn't even really on him. Would like to see him crack down on penalties but we know he is what he is, which is a very good LT (who is now playing consistent but will have to deal with his penalties... Way better then dealing with a horrible LT.
  • I had no idea how important Riley Moss was to this defense. I always say the toughest job in the NFL is the CB playing opposite an elite shut dow CB. Hope people realize how good Moss is now.
  • MacMillan had the game of his life. Reminded me of his game vs the Vikings last year where he turned the game around.
  • Nik Bonitto has arrived. He got to the door last year and he kicked it down this year. Hoping we make him a priority in the offseason with 1 year left after this year.
  • Wallace has no place on this team. Safety play was also a liability last night. Yeah, not sure what we do with him. He was horrible. Probably not a good scheme fit for him in Denver. He is much better in zone and has good ball skills. Not man to man.
  • I'm not sold on Troy Franklin. He's a rookie. Will be interesting to see if he fully develops into a great NFL receiver. I don't think anyone can say they are "SOLD" on him but he has done well compared to where he started. That is the important thing. He gets separation and can make people miss in the open field. As you know... I LOVE HIM and hope he continues to progress like he has.
  • Vele regressed a little last night. I still think he's going to be a big part of our future. I am not sure he regressed you just have to realize that WR's aren't always going to put up stats every game. It wasn't like he made mistakes. Sutton had a day and Mims and Franklin were targetted more. Nothing wrong with it.
  • Two picks by Nix last night. One was clearly his fault and the other was partially (tipped up in the air). The deep INT was a moment of learning for Nix. He got a little over confident after hitting Mims on the long TD. I think this is a big part of why we don't have more deep routes for Nix and Franklin and Nix learns he can't make those throws in the NFL.
  • Nix can put great zip on the ball. He's clearly not just a dink and dunk guy like many accused. He can sure look good throwing on the run. Those people saying Nix was dink and drunk in the draft process clearly didn't watch much of him in college.
  • Broncos coaches have been pretty good at halftime adjustments this year. Yesterday was the exception. Yes

Just don't buy any Bronco gear and you will survive.

It's just a uniform.

Love the wight helmets. The blue was a bit much. Need a bit more orange in them but hey that is nitpicky.

I thought that the first 5 games , Now I think our Starting Canter is a wussy at Run Blocking. Willems looked way better with our back up center .

My son and I both bought the new blue jerseys. He has a Surtain and I have a Nix jersey. In person they honestly look so much better. I really like the jersey. Only complaint is I wish I had gotten a size smaller. It is like they thought I would be wearing shoulder pads with the jersey.

To each his own. I love the matte helmets. Looks more modern. Now when I see a shiny helmet, I have to look away from the glare. Also really like the white alternate. However, the old school "D" helmet is by far the best one. Not even close.

What a bizarre game. Can't stop thinking about it. How often is it that you say "our defense sucked last night and they won us the game"?

We got a couple of Empower Field leaps into the end zone stands! That was good.
