I was being sarcastic. They're riding momentum off a fluke tournament success. Solid basketball program, but wouldn't gain a 1-seed in any major conference in the country.

Only team in the country to make the Sweet 16 the last 4 seasons. Have won at least one game in the Dance for 10 straight seasons. And that list isn’t long. Gonzaga’s tournament success is far from a fluke.

it's horrible. i'd legit rather see Furman + UNCG in the NCAAT this year than the teams listed as "First Four In" and "First Four Out" right now. I've always believed 3+ top 50 wins should get you in. Anything less than that, I'd have no problem watching you get sacrificed to the CBB gods so we can see a solid mid-major squad get an at-large bid

Yeah complete fluke they are the only program to make the S16 four years in a row.

I was only referring to the 2016 season when you played an 11 and 7 seed in the E8 and F4 to make the title. Sorry wasn’t downplaying Gonzaga’s historical success as a program.

I just don’t understand why every team in the country is held to these quadrant and SOS metrics, but Gonzaga gets by on the eye test and history. My example was look at Houston. They could finish 33-2 in a tougher conference and end up a 3-seed.

They beat a full strength Duke team and played Tennessee and Carolina extremely tough, both of which are final 4 caliber teams. You can't fault a team for the conference they play in. They took care of business. Every team lays an egg at least once a year. This was Gonzaga's. They are still a 1 seed. They're still getting to at least the 2nd weekend. Please tell me what conference Gonzaga should move to in order to "better themselves". The Pac-12? That might be worse than the WCC right now.

I mean sure, Gonzaga would fit in with the Big East or American Athletic, but geographically that would not be a good fit. Their only options where they're at are the Pac-12 and Mountain West and I doubt either conference is interested.

The Mountain West was just this past offseason.

Hey, if they don't mind adding a non-football member, the Bulldogs are a solid choice. Then again, they do have a football only member in Hawaii so maybe that would balance things out.

To put things in perspective, I think Gonzaga losing to St Marys is like a Power conference 1 seed losing to an 8 seed in the first roundconf tourney.

Not as disastrous as some are making it out to be but not ideal.
