You should be thankful our headcoach was a moron, cause you probably would not be in the playoffs....

So you better hope we don't get it right.

And the so-called toughest division in football was exposed.......thanks for helping out on that.
Detroit was/is the only team that should be talked about.

And your headcoach has not won a damn thing either.....

and btw......did you guys have any valued wins this year,or were they all vs bad teams......frauds.

Everything you posted is just a further indictment of the Bears...you're just not capable of critical thinking ... not that I'd expect you to understand that

You can franchise tag a player, have him work out a long-term contract with another team and then trade him. The Chiefs did that when they traded Jared Allen to the Vikings.
We know this, but the player still has to re-sign with his current team before the trade is official. The player has to be worth a fair bit more than the tag value for it to be worth the risk of the tag and trade deal collapsing and being stuck with him. The trick is to have the basis of a trade agreed before you tag him. The bottom line is that the player is entitled to sign the tag as soon as it is applied and he's not obligated to sign an extension.

Exactly why the tag option is out the window. Had he played well in a couple of tough losses at the end, there would be 2 or 3 teams that would be willing to give up a draft pick for a 27 year old that has been fixed and shed his bust status.

As it is, he started seeing ghosts again at the worst possible time.

Thanks man, you’re cool too.

I try to get along with everyone regardless of rivalries and what not, I come here to chill and laugh as much as possible.

Sometimes I let some bitter emotions slip here and there, but it helps that I avoid the PF as much as possible. Lol

I was surprised at how poorly the Vikings played last night. I thought they had a legit chance to win the game. I was even more surprise that they had a slight lead in fan attendance. I think Joe Buck mentioned it was 51/49 in favor of the Vikes.

That was a polite euphemism to say there were more Vikings fans than Rams fans. I seriously doubt it was close to a 50-50 split.

It's not like the Vikings are totally SOL in this deal. If he leaves as a Free Agent and gets a decent size contract, wouldn't the Vikings get a compensatory draft pick?

Yah but the highest is a 3rd rounder and it's at the end of the normal picks (so basically an early 4th before comp picks were a thing which was 94', so picks were official in the 95 draft I believe) round.

I mean better than nothing, I guess...

Yes, but the #97 pick is only worth 112 points and with a year's delay it's worth about 80 points if traded for a pick this year. Which is why he has to be worth at least a 3rd round pick for a tag and trade deal to be worthwhile. The Vikings got a lot of bang for their free agent bucks. Fans should be happy with that. I didn't foresee any possibility of them getting a big trade haul.

Ok, if you were the GM of the Seahawks would you give up the 100th pick in the draft for Darnold?

Depends on what contract he wants.

I dunno what you mean though. We're talking about what the Vikings would acquire. They get a 3rd round comp. because Darnold will PROBABLY sign a large enough contract (even $20M a year will do it) to get the 3rd round compensatory.

Would teams give up more to trade for that? Well, maybe... someone may offer a 2nd (doubtful a 1st after the last 2 performances) but that would require the Vikes to FT and then trade, not a big deal... but it means giving Darnold a bigger deal. Probably fine for non-cap hungry teams. Non exclusive FT hasn't been done since 2000 (Galloway to the Cowboys) where any team can bid whatever, but if the departing team doesn't match the acquiring gives up 2 1st round picks. Again, that wont happen.

It will all depend on the market demand of Darnold. If teams are willing to give up a 2nd the Vikes will franchise and trade him. Course Darnold has to sign the tender.. so he'll have a say where he goes and what kind of contract he gets. If he signs the tender and they CAN'T trade him, they're stuck with him lol... but that's all worked out before any of that goes down.

My point is either way the Vikings will get some return for a guy that just about every other team decided was washed, so they kind of win regardless of the route.

Correct. Just saying the comp. pick isn't HUGE. But it's something for free... and you can trade them now so that counts.

That said, if they went deep in the playoffs or lost last night because of the D or something... Vikes could've been lookin' at maybe some 1sts and/or 2nds.

Darnold is prob. almost certainly looking at a 1 year prove it deal on a shitty team. That was kind of supposed to be this year... but I guess history will repeat itself.

Honestly, I believe there is a team that believes they can get from Darnold what O'Connell did with the Vikings. It only takes 1 team that would be willing to pony up and if 2 think there is something they can do with him, he might actually get paid. Who those teams are, I'm not sure but there are candidates.

Could end up being the Steelers... the beefed up their OL this last draft and Wilson/Fields isn't gonna be it. Raiders could be another destination. Titans/Giants probably going with the draft. Course it's a weak QB class, who knows.

I doubt anyone is giving up anything significant (picks or contracts) for Darnold at this point though. Also, his season was almost exactly identical to Geno Smith from 2022... Only difference is Geno had a shit defense in 2022, Darnold didn't. Once Smith's run game went away, he's been a low 90s QB.

2022 Geno Smith vs. 2024 Sam Darnold:
Yards: +37 Darnold
TDs: +5 Darnold
INT: +1 Darnold
Attempts: -27 Darnold
Comp %: +3.6% Smith
Sacks Taken: +2 Darnold
Rating: +1.6 Darnold

I mean it's eerily similar. Geno signed a 3 year $75M deal with escalators or $25M per. FT for QB is currently worth $40M per... So could Darnold sign a 3 year $90M deal with escalators (has an advantage because of age)? Sure... Is that worth a 1st rounder? Probably a 2nd and that's because this class sucks ass.
