Since the league has successfully signed a new deal with Disney!?! It is more obvious all the time that the league is falling apart. First they remove the rover position now Disney. But hope is not lost, with these suggestions, or some of them, the game we love could become more popular! Open minds only please.

  1. To grow the Arizona market and show it’s hockey youth growth – the Maple Leafs should play 10 of their home games a year in Arizona and Arizona should play 10 of theirs in Toronto. Think of the excitement for both cities! Before you know it people will lump the Coyotes into a group called the Original 7.
  2. Instead of playing the anthems before the games, which can be divisive, play “Now That We Found Love” by Heavy D and The Boyz.
  3. NHL Indian Summer Classic – 1 nationally televised roller hockey game per year. Real stats and the game counts. This will give a sense of nostalgia to people who grew up skating on the blacktop.
  4. The NHL All Star Game should be a game of tackle football
  5. Maybe have a NHL hockey baseball cap night giveaway. Or scarves
  6. Indoor-Outdoor games. The thrill of watching games both indoor and outdoors. Half of the ice is in a building, half is outside. 4 15 minute periods so both teams get to enjoy both sides equally
  7. Add a 24 second shot clock
  8. Once they carry it out of their own zone a team is not allowed to carry it back into their own zone
  9. NHL provided grief counseling for Calgary Flames fans
  10. Maybe make a fun video game to get the kids involved?

The Leafs as an AZ home team would 100% outdraw the Coyotes even if they sucked. Snowbirds, vacationers, etc. And the Coyotes would still get the same 100% ACC attendance that the Leafs do in TO right now because all the corporates would still go. Win-win.

Teams should be required to wear Anaheim Bullfrog and Orlando Jackals throwbacks.

How about making the goals bigger and getting rid of offsides?

That wouldn't work because you'd have people "cherry pickin'" and it would mess with the game. In fact we have that somewhat now, maybe the solution would be you have to be onside crossing the center line too.

Unless you add the rover back in and allow he or she to move anywhere they like on the ice. Sort of like a knight in chess.

I think they should also implement Super Mario Striker level power ups like the frozen player, bombs, random shells shooting across the rink and nothing would be funnier than seeing a player slip on a banana peel.

That’s how we always used to play in street hockey and it was great. I guess that wouldn’t work for the pros, though.

they'd adapt.
I thought there would have been more of an affect they took out the 2 line pass rule.
(as a slow defenseman, i fought against implementing that change in my beer league)

if you want to leave a floater up high, d can either hang back with him to open up the rest of the ice,
or press for a pseudo power play while he's out of position.

either option could be interesting.
